@dulwich. 😄 I'm in the middle of watching the last episode of my fave show Homicide Hunter. Watched the 1st H & M show tonight on Fox and will watch ABCs show after Homcide Hunter. I will respond to you more in a while.I rarely watch this much TV at once! I saw your other post where I asked you. I'll be back...

@dulwich We were in England back in 1994. The differences we noticed was walk in a restaurant guess you all call it a pub, sit down, wait for the waitress, people stared at us. Didn't know you had to go up to the counter and order LOL We felt slighted got up and walked out had to get back to the tour group, so, we never got to eat till hrs. later.

Stores close early over there. We're used to 24/7 hrs. Marks & Spencers closed at 4 or 5 think it was.

Little bitty cars, gas to put in those cars were expensive. Parking was non existent. Little streets not wide. Lots of folks, most had dogs. I asked the tour guide if that was considered a status symbol thing. He said "no". I thought then why so many dogs on the streets. LOL

People were more civilized over there. Made their kids mind while in public places wasn't allowed to run wild. Yeah, the dress code where I live in Tx needs some improving. I haven't seen a man in a suit since my own husband wore one over Christmas to church. Everybody is laid back and non formal. I like to dress up every now and again .

I can see why it would be a culture shock for you as I think it will be for Prince Harry, also. I didn't care for the food in England, but, then, I don't like Tex/Mex either. LOL

Hope you adjust and maybe you can go back some day !

@SharkE Yes there are lots of differences but it is nice we can all chat here.

By the way I loved my visit to Texas and I loved living in AZ but similar to you I did not like much of Mexican food which is prevalent in AZ but love, love, love hamburgers. I miss a good U.S.A, hamburger when I go home - so many toppings yum! and I love your sandwiches - ours are very thin but here a feast! But I do miss ‘afternoon tea’ with scones, Cornish clotted cream and jam (jelly).

Which part of Tx did you visit ? I'm sure Dallas is more hip then Amarillo

LOL I've heard they're more upscale in dress, etc. We didn't want a big city, though, used to towns of 200,000.

traffic is a horror in big cities, more crime, more things to be leery of.

I like less daily problems to contend with every day. Don't want to live real close to others, etc.

I'm crazy about English history, also. Visiting the Tower, Mary, Queen of Scots place, Henry the VIII's palace was a thrill I'll never forget.

Wales, was pretty all that purple heather. The tour guide told us people that live there think it's depressing !

I think folks that live there don't really appreciate the heritage and history of that area. Don't like bagpipes though ! LOL

@dulwich I thought your first post here might be a bit of a riff on Meghan's S. Africa ITV interview thanking the reporter for asking whether she was OK because nobody had asked her, hence my smile emoticons and my last 2 sentences in my earlier post. I will respond seriously and I very much appreciate your sharing your sincere and quite interesting response. 👍

@SharkE It was a while ago DH was in Austin and then San Antonio So I went to visit enjoyed both places. Texas is very unique but we found it very enjoyable and some good restaurants.

I saw my first ‘real’ cowboy there and couldn’t stop looking at him in the end DH went over, said Hi will you please let my wife look at you! He obliged!

LOL I had to get used to the men, also! Those stetson hats, boots all the time and even the women wear boots ! I hate boots ! Those big ol' belt buckles. Still not used to that look.

BUT, Tx. men are real respectful of women. They will hold the door for you, call you ma'am, tip their hats for you, and just treat you better. Raised better I assume.

Up in Ind. they holler from the cars "hey 'B' or you gonna turn or what"?

let the door slam in your face, no yes or no ma'am 's up there. LOL

@SharkE I love Wales. My Dad was Welsh and I spent some of my early childhood in the Rhonda Valley in S, Wales hated when we came back to London after the War but soon became a Londoner again! Hampton Court and Churchill’s home are two of my faves.

What really impressed me here was when we visited NASA and saw the space missiles and Annapolis blew my mind. I still have not seen the White House but would like to. Oh yes saw the Alamo too - great history and I love New York.

Yeah, we went to Washington before 9-11 glad we did back then.

Saw the alamo, saw Annapolis too.

Dh's fav spot is Hawaii. He loved it over there. We don't travel any more by plane. No way would I go near New York.

Did all the Islands back when we were young too. took cruise ships to Puerto Rico, few other places. No way now people just get sick that take the cruise ships.

I'd love to see Paris, but, forget it I'll buy a DVD on the history of it LOL

@SharkE Been to Hawaii twice and did not like it very much found it too touristy so maybe we did not find the right places.

Paris been there so many times it is a hop, step, jump from London. Love the food, but best of all love the south of France - spent several summers there and it is bliss. Also other fave Venice and Florence. DH goes back and forth to U.K. on business so he never wants to travel much anywhere now.

I'd want to see all the French history places. Marie Antoinette, Palace of Versaille, Hall of mirrors, where she was beheaded, museums, on and on.

Somebody told me once they wasn't real big on Americans and we can't speak French. He took French in college, but, that was long time ago. LOL

I read so much on the British I've let some of their lingo into my every day speaking. LOl

@SharkE What I would really like to do is follow the Tour de France - not me cycling lol - but I love watching this race and seeing all the scenery and seeing all the villages. Lance Armstrong was my hero before his downfall!

The French and Brits have a real love/hate relationship - which has gone on for years but we still holiday there and lots of my friends moved permanently to France but most of them now moved back home before Brexit.

O.k. Your lingo I have learned - Ma’am, pardon me, Hi how are you, you’re welcome, Have a nice day, Defence (yelled at football games which I do not understand at all the game I mean) lol.

@dulwich You seem very happy and grateful that @Pearlee asked how you were adjusting to life here, but Meghan is criticized when she honestly answers about how she is doing during an interview. She is a person just like the rest of us. I understand how most people feel about it, but I'm just saying that it is really nice when someone asks about YOU.
