She’s just trying to stay relevant. They all do it...some past drama if they can’t conjure up a current one to have their names in the media; true or false...it is no one else’s business and tacky to try to sell a book with it.

I think the idea is that when they disclose these personal struggles, it opens up more dialogue so that others who may be addicted will perhaps feel more ok about seeking help.

If these revelations help one person speak up, get help or get out that makes it all worth while. If these revelations help someone heal or feel strong or maybe they can over come then I say go for it. It's not hurting any of us these revelations it just maybe helping some of us in ways we will never know.

Wow the cycle never changes. Once the red hot career cools off and they age out of Hollywood the sob story books come out. Christina Aguilera is also "revealing " her victim hood story also.

too many diet pills, losing contol of herself and her singing.

@tsavorite From what I read, she has stated that she was sexually abused started at the age of 6 and she also stated that she was addicted to alcohol/pills. She has been clean since 2017 from what the article said. I am an addict myself with 6 years clean, so I get her struggle. Will I read her book? No. I've never much cared for her actually, but saw this post and wanted to see what the OP was referring too.

Wow, what a bitter thread.

Maybe it's very cathartic for her to talk about it and for others that may have experienced it, to not feel so alone.

Unbelievable that people would take offense or think there was an ulterior motive for speaking out about s e x ual abuse as a young child.

When I hear this stuff that doesn't particularly interest me, I tell myself that some of these revelations might help others seek help who are going through the same problem, whether it be drugs, alcohol, abuse or anything else.

I have no interest in her career, but I feel for anyone who struggles with addiction and past abuses. Perhaps part of her recovery is a desire to help others who have also had similar struggles. Perhaps it was just cathartic to write it all out. Perhaps she wanted to see if she could make some money. Maybe all three. I can only guess.

I won't purchase her book, but don't fault her for writing it. Hope she can lay all the demons to rest.

@BrandiDavis : Congratulations. Getting and staying clean and sober can be such a tough road.

i was on the phone when the story came on so didn't really focus on it but got the idea. Maybe, as people who are struggling and think they are alone and will never get better, hear what someone who is "successful" has gone through might help them in their battle.

Good for her. If she inspires someone in a similar situation, all the better. It also moves her into a different stage in her recovery. I think putting it out there takes away the denial.
