Markle Law Suit

Meghan's father is reported to be testifying for the defense in the upcoming trial. This suit seems another ill advised decision. It will just resurrect the incident and, I suspect, the entire letter will become public.

To me, a letter is like a gift to the recipient, to whom upon receipt, owns it and can do as he pleases with it. If that's not the case, then shouldn't he be the one sued or, at least, sued along with the publication?

@occasionalrain I've said it from the start: He is a pig who wants $$$$ from anyone who will fork it over.

He's a psycho who can't stand the idea that a daughter he treated badly/ignored wants nothing to do with him.

All of his actions have proven what a slime ball he is.

And he thinks this is going to make his daughter want to have anything to do with him????

@Love my grandkids I don't see him as a bad guy at all. I see him as a loving father who was kicked to the curb after his daughter became famous and married a prince.

Her father paid for and supported her- her whole life. They were close.

He is hurting and I would be too. I have tried to understand what the big deal was about when he was photographed looking at pictures of his daughter before her marriage. I think he was proud of her and didn't do it to hurt her or make money.

This incident was innocent and blown out of proportion.

if Meghan was decent, she would have called her father and spoken to him instead of sending him a letter. She creates her own drama and blames everyone else.

My advice to her would be to reach out to her father and have a relationship. it doesn't have to be all warm and fuzzy, just an acknowledgement that he is still her father and she appreciates all he has done for her.

Meghan and Harry are suing the paper for printing her letter to her father. Her father allowed the paper to read it to prove what he said was true...Meghan was denying ever writing to him about certain things.

I find it strange that she has turned on most her family and old friends and adopted all of her new Hollywood friends instead.

She seems like a very superficial and sad individual. I used to think the world of her, but slowly she has reveals herself to be only about Meghan.

I just read last weekend Andrew Morton's book on her written in 2018. From what I read he loved her very much and I felt bad for the ill thoughts I had about him prior. Meghan moved back in with him for high school for many years. Mr. Markle went to all of the school productions and worked on the sets to help put on all of their productions every year Meghan performed. As a volunteer of course. On the nights they worked rehearsed at the end of the day since in class so much he would go to McDonald's and purchase for the entire cast and crew dinner. Most of the students did not even know he was Meghan's Dad. Just thought he was the man in the overalls always building and putting things together, plus feeding them.

Her father is a parasite IMO. What "loving" father sells stories about his daughter to tabloids. He staged paparazzi photos and sold them to tabloids. He lied about it to Harry. I don't blame her a bit for cutting him out of her life. Her mistake IMO, was writing him a letter. I suppose she naively hoped he would be decent and keep it private.

He was approached by the media and didn't think he was doing anything wrong. That was Harry's and Meghan's fault for not protecting him, informing him on what was unacceptable.

I believe Meghan has treated her father shamefully.

What parent plays out ANY family drama in the media. The guy is a slimeball.

But don't worry for him, he has the Meghan haters on his side. That's quite a team.

@faeriemoon I am not a Megan hater, nor do I think her father is a slime ball.

I always try to remain neutral and see both sides of the story.

Over the last 10 years or so, I have noticed that many people only know what the headlines reveal. They base their opinions on what the media is pushing.

They don't do any outside reading or try to find both sides of the story. The media pretty much controls the way people think and act.

I am not a product of the media spoon feeding me. Most of what is out there is not true, and even if true, half of it is incorrect.

I can do my own research and come to my own conclusions. I might not be able to get 100% of the facts right, but I can do better than what is being pushed and shoved to us.

@Carmie I totally understand what you are saying. However, I have no respect for any parent who would take a conflict with their child to the media. You sit back and shut up about it; be the adult in the room. Find other ways to make the connection and work it out privately.

His collaboration with the media tells me he is not the parent he should be. I don't care if he comes off as the bad guy; you don't bring your troubles with your child to the media.

@Carmie Any of us who say anything negative about Meghan, however justified/truthful it is, automatically is a Meghan hater --- and worse. Haven't you noticed that? Pretty crummy (and false) excuse that is for someone to use to say that bad behavior, inappropriate dress, or whatever the issue is, is A-OK to do.

I don't know anything about the father/daughter drama but although I'm not a Megan "hater" I don't think much of her as a person. She is older and more experienced than Diana was and should have known what she was getting into. I wish her and Harry much luck in their marriage. IMO they will need it.

I agree that she was naive about what royal life would be like. I would guess that Harry tried to warn her, but she thought she could handle it. Thinking it would be hard but "fair" (her words) was definitely naive. I also think the latest "stepping back" thing was handled badly.

However, I will never feel that her FATHER should have used the media to communicate his views to her and to the world. No normal parent would do that.

I think they both messed up royaly. He was proud and showed it because of bad choices. She was stupid for not warning him of the risks of "sharing" info. He got money, she got mad. Now, they both have to pay the price. Someday, they both will regret that this was allowed to happen to them.

Read an article this morning that not all of Canada is thrilled to have them settle there - particularly if they expect the Canadian government to be providing them security and other amenities. Essentially, the thought was - if they want to be treated as royaty, they should stay in England.

Apparently she has a contract with Disney and is hopeful for more. It seems they have some plans to make their own money. Not sure how that will go.

I don't hate MM and Harry, I'm just tired of hearing about them. I'm sure MM does not like to hear or read the terrible things that are said and printed about her dad. People do not realize that when you have a lousy parent and people know it and comment about it without doing anything about it, it hurts the child forever. This relationship or lack of it will haunt her forever, a girl wants a daddy she can count on.
