Charging admission to your wedding?

Just saw a post on Reddit....a bride-to-be is charging a $50 entrance fee to get into her wedding. Supposedly this fee will get you on the “exclusive guest list” so you don’t have to wait in line to get inside the wedding chapel. She is expecting guests to send the fee with their rsvp card....I predict a lot of “ decline” cards. Wonder if the groom will decline? The bride says she wants to recoup her wedding expenses.....

I would never attend a wedding if I was expected to pay $50 to get in...and I am sure an actual gift will be expected also! Would you actually pay a fee to attend a wedding? I just can’t get over the fact anyone would have the nerve to ask guests to do this.

That boggles my mind. If it was a close relative where it would create family hard feelings if I didn't go, I would probably send the fifty bucks and bring a small token gift to the wedding....like a $25 gift.

if it was a more distant relative or a friend, I would send my regrets.

i think it's totally tacky to request that, though.

I would send a $50 check to Humane Society take a picture add they on my rsvp saying I sent my $50 so I qualify to VIP treatment.

I saw the article earlier today.

If I got an invitation like that, I would remove the stamp from the RSVP card to reuse it. Then , I would toss the invite in the trash. No response is needed.

I would not be attending nor sending back my rsvp. How rude and greedy are people becoming. Hopefully everyone who receives an invitation will be just as rude and not reply and leave them to pay for their dream wedding alone. Guess when they get pregnant, there will be a fee for the reveal (another stupid thing imo) then a fee for the shower, etc. You want to see the baby, guess what? Where do all these gimmies end?

This story was presented on a popular sub-Reddit group called AITA.

Am I The A--...then proceeds to tell the tale of a lifetime,

sourcing the internet to see if they really are the a-- they

have portrayed.

Many of these stories are so over-exaggerated, like this one,

many commenting know it's fiction. And having Daily Mail

pick up kinda confirms that notion.

I follow the AITA on Twitter and the stories/responses are funny.
The idea MANY responding thinks it's -real- is the funniest part.

DH and I have attended a lot of weddings, some of which DD has been in.

I hope that our nephews and our children's friends have more sense than this. And I can tell you they do.
