THE ROYAL WALK

I looked at 20 pictures that were taken today as the royals walked to church. As most of you who are interested, you are aware that Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined in the walk for the first time. Out of 20 pictures there was not one smile or grin from either one of them. Actually, in many of the pictures they looked confused and unhappy. I think mommy and daddy made a mistake thinking they were ready.

Not only were there a lot of people in the walk, of whom most were family members, there were the crowds lined up cheering them on. The two of them have seen crowds like that many times, however, to my knowledge I don't think they were ever that close to them, had to be scary.

To make up for it, once they got home there were all the Christmas presents they received waiting for them to play with. Now that had to have them jumping for joy.

@Lindsays Grandma I disagree about "mommy and daddy made a mistake." They are old enough to take part in some of these traditions. Their father will one day be king and it's part of royal life.

I understand them looking serious but that's fine too!

On TV tonight they showed the kids greeting the crowd. One rather large woman grabbed Charlotte and gave her a smothering embrace. Charlotte turned her head away and looked very uncomfortable. I would have been. As a parent, it would have been a no-no for my child to have to put up with that. They need a barrier between the crowd and the kids.

I wondered if that crowd had been screened in some way. If not, that would have frightened me as a parent because there are so many concerns these days. I would think those local crowds know not to reach out and grab the royals like that.

@Love my grandkids ...I appreciate your opinion to which you are entitled, however, to wait one or two more years really won't matter, it will be years before their father is king. I would be more concerned with how it affects the children now.

@Lindsays Grandma I have observed the same.....I haven't mentioned it because of the blow back. The children do not look particularly happy. George especially looks petulant and sad most of the time. Someone called it "royal" in another post. Just my observation for quite some time. Yes, you can find some photos that aren't, but many look angry. It puzzles me for a young child, especially one so entitled. Just my observation, I'm not offering any opinions. On the walk, many of the photos show more of the same, but this is not limited to the walk.

@Love my grandkids ...I happen to think very highly of Kate and William, particularly the queen. I don't know what your problem is but please, stop acting like I am attacking them. I am not the only one who noticed the children's reaction to the huge crowd, you saw it one way, I saw it another, please leave it at that.

@phoenixbrd ...I notice you used the word "angry" I saw that too but didn't write it for fear of the backlash. Yes, George did look angry in a few of the pictures I saw. I get e-mails from People and all 20 pictures were in it, very large and clear, couldn't miss it.

@Love my grandkids I didn't refer to how the children felt about church, my reference was strictly "the walk" it had nothing to do with inside the church or the mass.

It is a shame people are afraid of expressing their opinion. There are some mean girls on these boards.
I agree that George never looks happy when he goes to public events. There is a cousin who seems to lighten things up. She is a hoot. I also agree Charlotte is too young. That could be tramatizing to have strangers grabbing at you.They need to rethink the security members.

Without getting into whether or not the Cambridge children are happy or are clinically depressed... there was nothing wrong with them being included in that walk. For pity sake, most of us as children were made to do things we didn't particularly want to do and interact with people, both family and strangers, we didn't always want to interact with and somehow we managed to survive and go on with our lives... With no offense intended, I fully admit to finding aspects of the royal family interesting but am not among those appearing to be just a bit too wrapped up in their lives...

Those kids just bring smiles to my face. They are joyous to watch. I am sure since we see them all the time we alll will be pretty possessive of them when they grow up! I really admire the new Royals, they just are so good with their children. Very admirable. Raising a family in that environment, with such close scrutiny cannot be an easy task. Raising children who will dedicate their lives to serving others is herculean I am sure. Geesh, I had a time of it getting my grandkids to behave in the candy aisle!

I saw about 40 pics taken during the walk to church, and they were smiling in some. I think they were fine. Geesh a walk never heard anyone. I remeber having to endure hours with adults as a kid on my best behavior. Makes a kid appreciate what time they have to kick up the dust. Geesh, like stevieb said, we all had to do stuff like that. I have friends whose fathers were Pastors, and they said they were always being judged. They had to sit in church a lot too, from toddlers.

@stevieb. It wasn't "the walk" that was the problem. Afterwards, they were taken to the crowd watching and people went nuts grabbing at and pawing the kids It's was frightening to watch a very large woman grab Charlotte and another her in an embrace. Charlotte looked alarmed and of course, didn't know how to handle the situation. The crowd was out of line and needed a barrier.
