Have you ever tracked your packages

They seem to go to many places. For CA some go down south even. There doesn't seem to be any direct routes. I order mostly clothes.

They are sent to the regional hubs that have capacity to handle them. It's all figured out moment by moment by computers. And occasionally yes, a box goes on the wrong truck and you get loop de loops and a delay before it gets to you. That rarely happens for me.

On CBS Sunday Morning yesterday, they did a whole segment on delivery methods. I the not so distant future delivery will mostly be handled by robots and drones. Progress ?

Yes, I am often amazed that a shipment can make it across country in a day or two and spend 3 to 5 days here in town before it gets to me. When that happens, it generally is because UPS or Fed Ex handed off to the post office for delivery. Although, I do experience a similar situation with Amazon, where they get the Prime delivery in town and on the truck - yet the delivery is not made and is rescheduled - sometimes delaying several days. Getting it the last 10 miles seems to be the hardest part of delivery these days. It is crazy!

No, I don't stalk my packages. What is the point in doing that? I wait several days before I check tracking but only because I want to see when they are coming to my house. I don't care where they've been between leaving QVC and arriving at my door.

I spend half my life tracking my packages! I just can't stand waiting for stuff and get excited when I know it's coming today! Also, I live in a building where the USPS, UPS, Fedex and anybody else will no longer deliver to your door, they just dump it in the mailroom so I like to know what I'm looking for when I get home, so I don't miss anything. It's all just jumbled together.

Sadly, tracking info isn't as reliable as it used to be. I had two QVC orders I've been tracking. One said that tracking information was not available. The other said Wednesday delivery. Both arrived today. Go figure. Not a complaint about the deliver, just about the tracking info.

I usually give it a few days after it has shipped to find out where it is and when I can expect delivery. We have porch thieves in our area and so if I am not going to be home on the day of delivery I ask a neighbor to keep an eye out and take it in for me. It's unfortunate but it happens all too frequently in our area, my understanding is they actually follow the delivery trucks and after a delivery wait if no one opens the door they figure it's up for grabs because no one is home and even with the ring doorbells and being recorded they still take what isn't their's.

I had an item from another company that was ordered this past November. That order has been in Glendale, California since 11/11/19. The company refunded my money a few days ago. Glad we can track items otherwise we would never know what happened.

@QVCkitty1lol maybe. So many errors are people losing concentration or people just not caring; robots avoid all that. However, if the computers go down, are misprogrammed by an employee error, etc. -- then what?

@halfpint1Right now I see an order at UPS in Orlando. Yesterday it was in Rocky Mt, so some go pretty much straight to target. Assuming this order works like everything alse I get, it will move 150 miles south tomorrow to a warehouse about 10 miles away and on to me in another day. If all that actually works, the order I was promised for Christmas Eve, I'll have late Thursday. Whether it's USPS or UPS, all my deliveries seem to happen after dark.

Yes, I track them because I want to try and be home when they're delivered.

Right now I've got one that QVC shipped via USPS that's been sitting at my local post office (about a mile away from my house) since 3:15 AM on Saturday morning "pending acceptance by the postal system". It was "supposed" to be delivered on Friday, 12/13.

I asked my carrier about it and she said "that's bizarre - contact us on-line and someone should be able to get it shook loose".

I contacted USPS on-line, and they referred me to their chart that says I have to wait for another week before they'll attempt to help me.

I went to the post office with the tracking info printed out and they said "you'll just have to wait until we get around to delivering it, we're too busy to go find it for you".

I always track my packages, because I want to try to be home when they're delivered. At this time of year I think that's especially important. If it's being delivered by USPS and is going to be small enough to fit into my mailbox I don't worry about being home as much.

Yes, I always track packages. One time a pkg. was coming from QVC PA and delivering to Chicago area. It ended passing up Chicago and went directly from PA to CA (yes, California) and then back to Chicago. I could never understand that one.

@chrystaltree: I wish I could be as laid back as you. I admit I'm a package stalker. I check the tracking of my packages constantly (I won't admit to the exact number). When I get the "Out for Delivery" message, I'm a happy camper!

I track only when it is very hot, or very cold outside. Most of my orders are skincare stuff, so melting or freezing is not great for the product.

Sometimes the box goes all over the place, and other times it is a straight shot. It's when UPS drops off at my local PO that it then sits there for days.....Frustrating.

We live on a busy street & I want to be here when they are delivered. I don't need the hassle of waiting for UPS or the PO to do paperwork & then have to wait for a refund. It happened to me once. It was an order for two eyebrow pencils. No bigger but they were over $20.00. We had high winds that day & I'm sure they were delivered. I'm also sure they blew away! Our neighbors grill blew over. Then UPS comes & questions me. I told them if I was going to say I didn't receive a package that I did it wouldn't be a $20.00 item! I do track now especially from anywhere I am receiving a package. Too many peopleare getting robbed.

From the day I am informed "Your Package Has Shipped" I track it. I agree, it goes to a lot of places before it reaches it's destination. When I first started to track I was amazed at how many places it went to.
