HAVE A REAL CHRISTMAS TREE?

I've never seen this before, but my sister, who always has a real tree, says she has a couple times.

Just FYI ----------

If you see this on your Christmas tree, gently remove it and take it outside. It is 100-200 Praying Mantis eggs!

Good reason for not having a real Christmas tree. A few years ago, my friend had tree that was full of tiny spiders. Her sweet little dog alerted her to the problem. He kept barking and running around in circles around the tree. She thought he just didn't like the tree. Her boyfriend found out what the real problem was.

I almost spit my coffee out when I saw this😂. I don't have a real Christmas tree, because I opt for "snow" flocked artificial ones. No messy clean-up and no need for recycling. I showed this to my daughter that is extremely afraid of spiders, and anything related to them, and it "creeped" her out.LOL

In the fifty plus years I have been on my own I've only had about three "real" trees (and each time I remember why I don't like them). We are using a skinny tree from QVC for the fifteenth time (last year some lights failed so I added a string of lights). Given how long (total) this tree has been displayed easily makes it my very best QVC purchase!

One year we had a swarm of tiny red spiders on the wall that came from the Christmas tree.

We didn't learn and still get a real one.

This brought back a memory .... as a kid, I recall my parents getting upset about some "critters" that came in with the tree ..... while a pine tree can have an amazing scent, you should avoid a tree that's been sprayed with bug spray ... UGH

@Tinkrbl44 I had real Christmas trees for about 50 years and have never seen this particular thing. I have seen bagworms, which have to be destroyed. Don't mix them up:

Now, I've never seen those! Seems like every region of the country has their own types of "freeeloaders" who latch on to pine trees. Yikes.

Oh love real trees for Christmas. Had them for many years until DH & I aged out. He likes tall trees (7 1/2ft +). Getting a real one home, up the steps into the house got too much for our backs. Even getting our artificial one up the steps now is trying.

Back to topic though, never experienced anything odd in our real trees even when I was a kid. Guess we were lucky.

I also had a Christmas tree filled with spiders. That was about 30 years ago, and we've had artificial ever since!

Me too......tree full of spiders......walked into the living room when the sun was coming in the window at just the right angle, to see a network of webs strung from the tree to the ceiling 😳.
Being another one who’s particularly creeped out by spiders, I immediately dragged the tree outside and vacuumed and sprayed and vacuumed and sprayed ! 🕷

I've been married 42 years and the only time we had a live tree was 41 years ago! Our first Christmas together. I just can't justify cutting down a precious tree for this silly custom. Yes, I'm a tree hugger, and proud of it. It takes so long for a tree to grow then boom its cut down and left to finish its dying process set up in your living room. Sickening.

I have a fake tree that is becoming like Charlie Browns tree---its about 20 years old now---but have been buying a small fresh tree lately---and while I am not squeamish about bugs and such--OPs story kind of creeped me out---will be looking for a new fake tree this year. Besides fresh trees are so crazy pricey from the storage---

WHAT? Oh, my goodness! Horrible! I would freak. Same thing with all the tiny spiders. I haven't had a real tree in ages because it's just too much trouble and work. Now --- I'm really glad I have an artificial one! I don't have a fireplace but I always think about when people bring in wood from outside --- couldn't there be bugs and spiders in that? And that gives me the creeps also!

oh my gosh...this post made me lol..I put up my real tree last week.The only critter in there is one of my kittens...he perches in there every day.I get a real tree every year for decades,never saw any bugs Lol,I bring in armloads of firewood every night,no bugs either..

We had a real tree once in my 39 years of marriage, and it was way too much trouble and work, and they are hard to decorate besides......The kids enjoyed it though.....But yikes, any type of bug and I would be throwing that thing out so fast! That is creepy!

It's sure pretty surprising .... instead of a real tree, I may get a real wreath to hang on my door ... outside! lol
