I watched the whole season 3 of the Crown and absolutely agree that they do not show any glamorous outfits,jewelry and parties that Princess Margaret was famous for.

Those above photos remind us how pretty she was!

He was a serial cheat and had a child with another woman right after he and Margaret married. Later, while married to soneone else, he had a child with a woman half his age. He was 68. The child is in his early 20s today.

Agreed, she was pretty, @SANNA.. Both she and Elizabeth were attractive; Margaret seemed to take more after some of the strong-featured relatives on her father's side, while E. seemed more a mixture of both parents...

Should have included some wedding photos! Although it was praised at the time for its simplicity, I'm not really fond of her Hartnell wedding dress-- too "bell-like", especially for her petite figure?

Way I understand it she mainly married him like on the rebound. Queen wouldn't let her marry the first guy she had picked out. She could have married him , but, she would have had to split from the Royals and no income from the Royal list and would had lost her title. He was married and would had , had to divorce, etc.

Back then, was a stricter code of rules. You can't marry Catholics, divorced folks, etc. Nowdays, rules have loosened up considerably

@SharkE is correct. Antony was not in the least the love of her life. As far as his affairs he was not alone in that activity of the marriage. Margaret had quite a few herself. They did look lovely together and made two beautiful children.

Right now I'm reading about the 8, yep, 8 assassination attempts on

Queen Victoria ! Unbelievable !

It must of been hard for Margaret to always know she would be in her sister's shadow. Just look at Harry, although, I don't think Harry would want to be King anyway. LOL

Kate stamped 'paid' to him being in the Q when she started popping them out. Believe she is done now she's done her job.

So much you can't talk about on the boards because you will tork off one or the other and the whole thread will get deleted.

Why should Margaret have not done her job and supported her sister--who was doing HER job with dignity and grace. No matter whether it was her choice or not. She was always jealous of the queen, over something that neither of them could control.

Margaret was more like her uncle David--they wanted the attention, the glamour and the job, but not the hard things that went with it--and both were a pain to the Queen.

So much petty jealousy from those two.

I've got plenty of respect for the present Queen she has put up with more stuff then the public knows about. Queen Mary took her under her wing and

prepared her for her role. Plus, Elizabeth kept a close eye on Margaret telling her how to behave in public.

I got a kick yrs. ago about how when William and Harry would be out in public and all the young girls would be screaming at them William would tell

Harry "wave at that lot". LOL Reminded me of Elizabeth giving Maragret instructions on when to talk, etc. If you watch old footage from that time you can see Elizabeth standing close to Margaret when they were just kids and she would give her a slight nudge to acknowledge this one or that one. She

already was bought up to present a dignified appearance at all times.

Have you ever seen QE with a cig hanging out her mouth ? Margaret never worried about it.

I remember reading when Elizabeth was growing up and was partial like her mother to sweets she got mad one time and declared "When I'm Queen we will have nothing but sweets served". LOL Young, of course.

If you watch young George he has a bit of that fobbing off the public too

LOL Cracks me up. They're quickly corrected and told that won't do, but, you feel so sorry for those little kids. Of course, they get tired of doing ordinary things and camera and strangers throwing questions at you all the time trying to get the key picture or just any tidbit of information.

Not a job I'd want no matter the pay off. Couldn't stand always being 'on point'. I posted a picture one time of young George leaving the balcony where they all had been standing and he turned to go back in and just threw a backhanded wave at the crowd. Like ** on you all ! LOL

I would say I have a moderate interest in the whole royal pageant thing, esp. because of the history. It's hard to spend much time in Canada as a child, without sort of absorbing all kinds of odds and ends of Windsor/Mountbatten lore!

The Queen has definitely had her hands full, right from the beginning, including dealing with every stripe of wayward relative. It's been lucky that she at least has the kind of steady character that she does....

If it's anywhere's near the truth, in the 3rd season of The Crown, Elizabeth, as a young girld, didn't want to be queen and Margaret went in and said "I do!" to some stuffy man and he said 'No!' and turned her away.

Do you think that really happened?

Or did I fall asleep and dreamed it while watching Season 3 because it's not that good!

Yes, my understanding is that Peter Townsend was the love of her life and the royals loved him too but he was divorced. I think they had an affair while he was still married the first time.

When he divorced, the queen wanted Margaret to be able to marry him but she had to abide by the rules and if she did, Margaret had to give up anything royal, thus denigrating and lessening the value of the royal family, so she (unlike Edward who gave it all up for the hateful Wallis Simpson who abandoned him in his less wealthy and aging years) gave it all up for the greater good of the Crown.

Peter, as I understand, went on to marry a woman half his age who looked a lot like Margaret.

From my point of view, it isn't so much that Harry wishes to be king but that he has tired of being the "spare" and accorded the limited respect of that rank.

So much depends on one's nature, and Harry has acted out through the years in ways that reveal a deep-seated desire for attention -- good or bad (I'm thinking of his "German" Halloween uniform and mischievous times in Las Vegas, among other wild nights). I am not chastising him; he is the sum of his nature and his life's experiences.

He lost his beloved mother at a most tender and vulnerable age. That can never be forgotten.

So, Harry has a deep desire for respect. But he might also believe he needs to remove himself from the Royal sphere in order to get some real oxygen to breathe, his own oxygen in a life of his own making.

I wish him and his family well!

I love the simplicity of her gown. I'm more of an architectural person when it comes to style, and less of a lace, beads and frou-frou girl. That's probably why I liked Meghan's wedding dress more than I liked Kate's.

Harry no more wants to be King then I do LOL The people that say that don't like Meghan and putting what they perceive what she'd like onto Harry.

That whole Nazi uniform he donned back in the day was due to the fact that he probably didn't study too hard at college. LOL Gotta remember when he was born he wasn't as aware of the horrors of that time period as we folks.

They might not even teach that aspect of WWII these days. I don't think the Royals even read about their past ancestors I really don't. I'd wager I could tell them more then they are interested in reading about. LOL

The Queen's own Uncle was painted as being in cohoots with Hitler, so, you would think it would drift down to the grandkids, but, guess, she can't be expected to know what's going on with her kids and grandkids on top of all her other duties.
