POOR CALIF..cave fire now..it is huge

@cherry There is a strip of land on the very bottom of Australia. The biggest city is Adelaide. They have the identical weather of Southern California. They also have seasonal fires. Many of the fires have killed thousands trying to flee in their cars. The have the same sunny, beautiful weather that technically is paradise. Just the terrible risk of fire. Very few places have this type of weather world wide.

LAFD has sent help - and there is rain moving in tonight into tomorrow which will help the firefighters. we've had a long fire season for sure.

@cherry, thank you for your concern.

It was very scary last night. We had tremendous winds. Only two helicopters were able to fly with night vision; one was local one came up from Los Angeles.

The winds were so strong they weren't sure they would be able to work.

This morning when the sun came up we had fixed wings planes come in. They have been flying all day.

We have been evacuated several times before so sat by the tv and listened to phone alerts to see if we had to go. The line stopped about two miles from us.

We could see the flames from our house.

I think, or hope they are getting a bit of a grip on it today.

We are supposed to get at least an inch of rain tonight starting at ten.

We have had no rain in 180 days.

Put out good thoughts to our brave firefighters they have had a really rough go of it. There are six hundred on the line now.

@songbird I didn't know that, a nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there. I lived in Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley) for forty years and am very familiar with the fires. I loved living there, miss it a lot but won't go back. The cost of living is prohibitive, and housing is way out of sight.

@Lindsays Grandma, we lived in the west valley (called West Hills) for almost 30 years until we moved to Hermosa Beach 15 years ago. We raised our daughter in the Valley. Although we twice saw fires on the hills a few miles away, we fortunately were never affected.

Yes, we have a very high cost of living, and housing is extremely expensive.

@suzyQ3 I will never forget being evacuated when I was living in Chatsworth, flames were on the ridge from Simi Valley and had they not been stopped I could very well have lost my home. Been to West Hills many times, had a friend who lived there but sad to say I have never been to Hermosa Beach.

@Lindsays Grandma, Hermosa Beach is a 1.4 mile strip along the ocean in between Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. It's full of people, dogs, and activity yearlong. It keeps us young. :-)
