Elf on the Shelf

It's bad enough his/her eyes follow me in Hallmark stores.

Now the creepy little face has his/her own cereal, fruit snacks, and a menu dedicated to the little snitch at IHOP.

Now I know we have die-hard fans of this Elf so enjoy!

(Lighten up folks-this is not meant to be a Ph.D dissertation topic)

We had those little devils when I was growing up. They didn't move around because we tied them in the tree. LOL

You know ,I think this is creepy. My children were given a little tin foil container, a bag of hay,and a tiny baby. They were told to make the bed for the Christ Child soft, by doing good deeds. Every time they did some nice act , they were given some hay to make a soft bed for the Blessed Baby

If I didn't have any religious leanings, I would try to find a positive way for the children to be good. I certainly wouldn't scare them into feeling like, there were things in their home ,spying on them

Scaring children is never a good idea .

I have several that I picked up at garage sales through the years. I tuck them in the branches of my Christmas tree....they aren't allowed to snoop around the apartment!

It's bad enough if you listen to the words of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" to hear he know when you are sleeping, he know when you're awake, he knows, etc. Santa has always been snooping on you if you hear the words, now he has his elves prying into your child's behavior as well. It just makes Christmas creepy.

I behaved because I was told to, not because someone was watching my every more. It's even worse today because of real cameras everywhere. But, these elves moving around the house just isn't fun to me.

Last year my niece got me Shiraz on the Shelf from One Funny Mother. It's the adult version of Elf on the Shelf complete with wine glass and poem. Since then, I smile whenever I see Elf on the Shelf (but yes, his eyes are creepy).

I never liked the idea of that Elf on the Shelf. It wasn;t around when my girls were young and I don't think my girls will buy into it for the grands.

Thank you! I was trying to remember her name the other night. I believe she wrote a book for her niece and then the "storm" began @Desertdi .

i think it is a cute idea......have enjoyed helping other moms figure out what to do with the elf each night. did not do it with my kids because it was not around then. if i have grandchildren would definitely find this a fun thing to do.

santa claus is coming to town is a "bad" or "creepy" song? LOL, grew up with this song, sung it often in elementary school, played it often in orchestra at christmas programs, and it has been around since 1934! its a wonderful classic that has been sung by many greats.

there is also a "mensch on the bench" for hanukkah.
