Are you talking about light bulbs that went out in your fixture(s) next to your door? Or lighted pathway lights that you need underground wiring for? For that you would need an electrician, I would think.

Make sure you are comfortable working with electrical wiring.

I'm guessing that the outdoor lights you are referencing are spot lights or porch lights. I would think that any handyman could takle that project.

A handyman can do that. Much less $ than a licensed electrician. Assuming you are looking to replace existing fixtures. That's a nice upgrade to your home for not a lot of money.

@goldensrbest I purchased 3 of the outdoor battery operated, motion sensor lights. DH put them across the garage. They work great, I believe the name is Mr. Beams.

If the new fixtures are merely replacing older, existing ones, a handyman with some experience might be fine. If you're installing fixtures for the first time, where new wiring is required, you'd need a licensed electrician.

I don't know...I think I would go with a LICENSED AND INSURED electrician. It's the way I think. I can't afford mistakes.

And I like my electrician.

Why not check with your homeowner's insurance agent. See what s/he thinks.
