Do young women wear bathrobes?

Thinking of gifts for DD and DDIL. I wear a robe every morning in the cooler weather and wonder if younger women do. I don't want to ask my DD since it may be a gift.

I don't think so as much. Mostly lounge wear at night instead and mornings until they get dressed. Robes tend to get in the way especially when you're busy with kids. Also, they might already have one if they do.

Maybe a slouchy cardigan they can toss on if they're cold.

@shy bobcat The best gift you can give is something someone wants. Gifts don't have to be a surprise, or not fit, or be something they can't use but are surprised with.

Just ask what people want and what they need! It will be the best gift you can give!

I never wear one and neither did my mother - too bulky and uncomfortable. All the younger females I know don't wear traditional nightgowns or pjs either. They just wear sweats or loungewear.

I like the idea of a slouchy cardigan as @GenXmuse suggested. I've never been a robe person. But I do put on an oversized cardigan if I'm cold.

I have to agree. I don’t find them to be very comfortable....and... I have never seen my daughter in a robe. She is now 35. She seems to like the jogger pant pajamas.

I don't even own one. I bought one a couple of years ago when I had my knee replaced to wear in the hospital. Didn't wear it there either. I find they are to bulky, and hot. I just wear comfy clothes.

my daughters do when they get out of the shower and/or when they are putting on makeup prior to getting ready to go out.

If you have you seen your DD or DDil in a robe or one hanging in their bathroom then probably not. It is a personal item and you have to be aware of their style.

I can only speak for the younger women I know; my girls, my nieces. They don't wear robes. I don't wear robes either. That doesn't mean your girls don't wear them, ask the men in their lives if they wear robes.

I do not think it is a young or old issue.... heckI am old and never wear a robe....maybe as a young child..... but not for the last 40 plus years.

@SoonerYou are right. I am such a traditionalist when it comes to gift giving. I purchased Haflinger slippers for my DD and DDIL instead of the usual fuzzy sock/slippers that they love. I was thinking a robe to go along with the slippers would be a nice set but, that may not be what they prefer.

If she lives in a cold climate with brutal winters, I can see where she might appreciate one. I have worn plush robes since I was young, and currently own several. Although it is not a personal gift, a gift card is always nice.

How about a gift card to a store that sells night gowns/ pjs/robes and an accompanying note about why you gave her a gift card.

Same here, I'm not a bit young, but for me robes get in the way. I just never cared for them.

Not the ones that I know, nor do they wear lounge wear or the lounge pajama sets. Heck, I don't wear any of that stuff either.

It sounds like a delightful gift. Those Haflinger slippers are nice. Something new is fun, if wearing a robe hasn't been routine.

I never wore a robe. Neither did my sisters or brother. I continued not to wear a robe. I don't own one and if given a git, I wouldn't wear it. My husband and son don't own any robes.
