topic Concrete countertops? in Community Chat

My husband and I first saw these at a home show, and some of them are absolutely gorgeous. In the past couple of weeks I decided to price concrete countertops, as we are still deciding on what we will be getting for our new kitchen.

I haven't found many places that actually make them, but I did find a few places a couple of hours from here. I was shocked to find out the price per square foot! The quartz we are looking at right now is on sale at Lowes for $55.99 sq. ft. It goes up from there, of course, and the price of granite is comparable (at least it is at Lowes). Anyhow, the cheapest price I was quoted for concrete countertops was $85 sq. ft., and some were well over $100 sq. ft. I know there is quite a bit of work involved, but the price of the material is next to nothing.

It looks like we will be going with quartz or maybe even laminate.
