shot up to over 500 a yr. Just gonna take the Sunday now.

Watch TV and go online. Hopefully, the Sunday will have coupons,

Black Friday ads, etc.

Yes, that's about the going rate now for a daily paper. You pay quarterly, so it doesn't seem like as much, but when you look at the total.....OMG! With ours, you can just get 3 days a week and be allowed full internet access. My problem with that is that I'm on a darned computer all day long already!

Stopped our newspaper 6 years ago. So did many others. They decided to publish only 3 days a week charging the same when it was 7 days. $287 six years ago for 3 days.

Since so many don't get the paper anymore, coupons and ads are delivered by USPS.

I'm so conflicted about the dailu paper thing, not just because I like to read print rather than digital but because a free press has always been important to our democracy. But it is expensive.

Wow. I subscribe to 3 newspapers, and that one paper costs more than I pay for digital access to the New York Times, the Dallas Morning News, and the Washington Post.

This post sure hits home! We dropped our daily paper after subscribing for probably 30 years about a month ago. The subscription was now up to around $600 a year. I really hated to do it because we loved being able to sit and read the paper but it just got more expensive and thinner (some days only had two sections). Plus when we were gone and had the paper stopped they did not reimburse us for the missed papers because we could go online and read the online edition which isn’t something we like to do.

We gave up our print paper a few months ago. The paper kept getting smaller & smaller, but the price kept increasing. We are paying $10 a month for the digital version. We always preferred having a real paper in our hands, but since we both use tech devices anyway for other news and things, it really wasn’t that difficult of a transition.

I love my morning newspaper. I first scour the sports page, then go casually through the rest of the paper, until I ultimately settle into the daily crossword puzzle and one or two of the other puzzles. I love to start my morning this way.

I have not received a newspapar in years because of the availability of local and national news online. I reminisced while reading this post and have decided to start a subscription once again. There is just something nostalgic about starting the day by reading the paper and sipping on a cup of coffee or two.

I stopped my newspaper subscription many years ago. Not because of cost, but because the delivery person would pitch the newspaper from the curb anywhere in my front yard. I was told front porch delivery was only available if I was handicapped.

I got tired of getting dressed to search for my paper, so buh-bye.

Just a suggestion.....

I get my daily newspaper through Groupon - 26 weeks, 4 days a week ( Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday) and only costs $14. (The regular non-Groupon price is $91).

I don't know if your daily newspaper is available through Groupon, but take a look.

Because I have lived in small towns for last 40 yrs hard copy papers don't work for me (I don't just want the "local" perspective and Big city papers don't like home delivery for rural areas. Ten years ago I went to digital papers. I read Washington Post, NYT plus what's available online with x number of free articles a month. I look for deals on my subscription and usually pay $1 week for each.

My husband loves getting the daily paper and we'll continue to get it. I always hope that they won't discontinue the home delivery because he enjoys it so much.

Every year I'm tempted to cancel. $400, then $500 and probably $600 this year for a paper that gets smaller all the time. Ours gets delivered to the tube attached to our mailbox between 6 and 9 am.

Just a suggestion, but if you are willing to endure a month or two without the paper, you likely will be offered a subscription with introductory rates that are significantly lower than the $600 quoted price. I am not sure why people accept the huge price increase after an annual introductory rate expires. Some may not notice because papers are billed in 8 week increments that obscure the high annual price of the subscription.
