@In-x-s I purchased those Durkee FF onions today as well! The funny thing is mine were $1.89.

Eggs at my store are .45 cents. 15 minutes away at another Aldi's, they are $1.89. I have NO IDEA how Aldi does its pricing but obviously it's not a set price; not even at stores just a few miles away from each other. Knowing this, the only way (IMO) you can keep track of whether costs or rising or not is by keeping tabs on store you always frequent.

My thoughts on Aldi increasing prices is this: if Aldi's is this expensive (on whatever you're purchasing), then how much is the big name store charging for the same thing? ANd how are people affording it?

Another example: I purchase the Aldi's brand of Jalapeno potatoe chips for school lunches. One bag is $1.29. This is an exact copy (down to the graphics) of Lay's Jalapeno potato chips which cost $3.99 at Walmart and is $4.29 at my local Giant for the same weight. Big price difference and why I now shop at Aldi's; I have many mouths to feed and my dollar goes farther but...for how long. That case of soda may only be pennies for a can but for those who buy this as a treat and can't afford the gas station or Starbucks (what a joke), that increase means that one treat is now gone as well.

I budget down to the penny. I was taught to make my money work for me as hard as I work for it. But in the end, you only have so much in the bucket that you can spend. As the cost of food rises (and it is) the choices become more and more difficult regarding what you're going to be able to purchase. For many, that's no big deal. For far more, it is a big deal.

Wow, at least in my area (North metro Atlanta) grocery prices are rising so fast I can’t keep up with them. I’ve especially noticed the rise in probably the last three months.

I talked to my sister the other day, also in metro Atlanta, but another part, and she said the same thing.

I know we’ve talked about grocery prices several times here fairly recently but I’m bored, LOL, so I thought I’d bring it up again. It’s on my mind as I just got home from the grocery store 10 minutes ago.

We just got back from our big grocery shopping this morning. I don't notice any rise in grocery prices whatsoever. In fact I'm paying less. Maybe its a regional thing for you.

Order of priority for weekly shopping: Costco, Sam's Club, Trader Joes, Sprouts, Whole Foods

This strategy has kept the food quality high and the costs to a minimum. I haven't noticed prices going up.

In second place was Walmart with about 27 percent of the market, followed by retailers and wholesalers like Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Trader Joe’s.

What HEB does ----if they have HEB stores in the vicinity of competitors they reduce the prices in that store to beat the competition, but if a HEB store has no immedite competition then they raise the prices slightly for that store.....that's the game they play!!!

The only place I have seen grocery prices go up is Walmart! I had to go in there for a piece of pipe insulation for DH and picked up some bread and a few other things....$3.67 for the same bread/brand I get at Kroger for $2.88. Haven’t noticed prices going up at Costco or sprouts where I do most of my shopping. It is probably regional.

That has to do with China and the tariff situ.

OK, I think I see what you're saying. My Daisy brand sour cream comes from Dallas, Texas, but the plastic container is made in China. So Daisy brand is paying more for the containers now. Personally, I don't like our dependence on China, so I'm willing to see higher prices on Chinese goods.
