An organization I belong to does this at the annual dinner. They have a variety of items and a variety of prices. I'd say anywhere in the $50-$500 range, which is a really big range, but that's the fun of it Someone really into makeup/skin care will really love your basket.

Ask for donations for gift cards for restuarants, online stores, etc. Then you won't

have to wrap as many large baskets.

Maybe 10 tickets for $15 or $20 dollars.

I love going to these basket fundraisers and I wish you luck with yours.

First of all, I'm sorry this situation happened to your family. My prayers and heart go out to all involved.

Now to your question, can you group certain items together to create several "theme" related baskets, such as bath/facials/eye shadow/foot?

I have been to many fundraisers-both raffles and silent auctions-- and if there was a higher valued item/basket, there was always a special raffle tickets that were higher-say $50 or more or open to a silent auction. Most people try to be a generous as they can be in these type of situations.

My best advice is to try to create baskets/offer items that cover a wide range of income so all can participate. People will want to help. And don't forget--just take straight donations. Some items won't appeal to anyone but people will still want to donate to the cause. Good luck with everything and thaki you for being kind and generous with your donation.

Oh another thing, hate to mention it, but make sure someone is watching the $/items, we had friends who were raising $ for their kid with cancer and someone came in and stole some things. There are low lifes everywhere.

The price of the raffle tickets can vary with the value of the baskets. Our church has baskets valued between $100-200 at our annual fundraiser. Each raffle ticket is $1. A list of items & value of each is clearly printed for each basket. We used to have some larger baskets that were $5 a ticket but they didn’t sell as well. It really depends on the popularity of the items with the people attending.

I hope your fundraiser is successful. Sending best wishes to your family member.

We did baskets for fund raising at my daughter's old school every year. Each class had to come up with an idea/theme, donate the items and put it together. Some ideas are: Family Game Night (assortment of board games and the like), Let's Go Camping (sleeping bags, small outdoor grill, stuff to make smores, etc.), A small tree with attached gift cards to various places in the area like restaurants and grocery stores, a basket full of "green" cleaning items and a one time use gift card for a "green" cleaning service, a beauty basket of all sorts of beauty items including gifts cards for manicures/pedicures or a facial. The baskets were always a big hit and a huge money maker.

Please let us know how the raffle goes. Hope it goes well.

You made me remember. A neighbor had a race and raffle for their daughter who had leukemia. So my husband bought a bunch of tickets and put several tickets in each basket. WELL, he won the Estee Lauder beauty products. He came home with a huge basket of about 50 Estee Lauder beauty products.

He didn't make that mistake again - he was more selective about which bucket he put tickets.

My job does the raffles off big gift baskets to raise money for holiday charities. To be honest, I am a little put off by the idea of filling it with stuff someone already has in their house. "I don't like this,I'll stick it in the gift basket". "I'll never use that, I'll stick in the gift basket". We want people to look at the baskets and really be thrilled with what is inside and to want the basket so much, they'll buy a lot of tickets. We have themes for the baskets and we have baskets for guys too. Sometimes a whole unit will make one, sometimes a couple of people will make one, sometimes it's just a single person. They are always wonderful and they put them on display two days before the raffle so people can look at them. We don't look at the baskets the way you do. You cannot guarantee that anyone will even like you basket just because you like what's in it. We might see the value of something but that doesn't mean that anyone else will. The size of the basket gets attention, the bigger the better. The beauty of the packaging. The bows. What's in it of course. I've seen $$$ baskets didn't generate as much interest as $ baskets. It just depends on what people want and what gets their attention. Also proceeds of the raffle depend on how many tickets are sold! That's why we put the baskets on display 2 days before, to generate excitement. I don't know what "stuff" you are putting in your basket but it it's a lot, you might want to think about making two baskets.

A good friend made one with a poster frame. It was a big hit and a very big money maker, and many who could not donate an entire basket themselves, pitched in and made it a very nice prize. All the tickets were in the frame behind glass so it was easy and everyone wanted to win that. Let us know how it goes.
