Police Officers Shot

Just in..At least four Philadelphia police officers were shot in Philadelphia’s Nicetown-Tioga section and rushed to the hospital this Wednesday afternoon. Another officer suffered a non shooting injury during the incident. The officers were taken to area hospitals. All of the injuries are believed to be non life threatening.

Police say the shooting happened on the 3700 block of North 15th Street. They were first called to the scene for narcotics activity. Police say the shooting happened when a narcotics unit entered the neighborhood.

It is really getting to be like the wild west on the streets. Just recently in New York City they show men pulling out guns and shooting at each other. It doesn't matter who gets hit. We are living in really scary times. I feel for the police officers these brave men and women put their lives on the line, and they are not respected. Thankfully the injuries are non life threatening this time!

The shooter(s) is now live streaming on FB.

1 narcotic officer w/1 prisoner is barricaded in an upstairs bedroom

2 narcotic officers w/2 prisoners are barricaded in a downstairs bathroom

ALL six officers who were shot have been released from area hospitals. One Officer is being admitted for injuries sustained in a vehicle crash related to the incident. Situation remains active and ongoing.

The suspect surrendered overnight. He has been taken into custody.

With a lengthy record, how on earth was this person Not behind bars?

The shooter is 36, and has an Extensive Criminal History for Gun Offenses Dating to Age 18, Records Show

As a felon he was legally barred from possessing a firearm; in fact, he was previously convicted in federal court of illegally doing just that (being a felon in possession of a firearm). You can read the shooters extremely lengthy state criminal history on heavy.com
