Why Can't They Get New Stuff?

It is a mystery to me how come QVC can't find new "stuff" to air. I'm thinking of a few reasons: 1) they are obligated contractually to the people who sell 2)they like the vendors so much they can't fire them.

Then maybe: They own the factories and can't for some reason develop new products (think the cookware they've flogged for a million years and the porcelain), and clothing lines of "their own."

With half the country's young people in marketing and design, can't they scout out one of them? Maybe make the dishes and cookware more modern (I'm talking 1980's look on these!)?

I would like to see some quality USA things--like cutting boards, beautiful salad serving sets, etc. And I think a mix of higher end products like that might sell--why not try?

Good grief they are stuck in a rut!!!!!!! It is a shame. Poor David having to act excited about the stuff in the show today. I'll say the VitaMix is fabulous and you can't just buy them anywhere but the rest? Wow.

I miss the 'old' days when they did the 50/50 tour of the US.

Always unique products, made by local artisans, that you couldn't find anywhere else.

There's only so much 'unique' that you can import from China, IMO.

I stopped watching QVC long ago, but even if I flip past for a few seconds, I see they are often selling the same tired things I saw years ago. Their website is often a testament to the dustbin of stuff that has passed the expiration date.

Retailers change products constantly. I know many hate Walmart, but they do a great job with seasonal, fun items EVERY year...for every season.

This year, I spent a small fortune on seasonal items to be used in gift baskets for local rescues that I support. All of it current, fresh, NEW!

I tuned in momentarily the other day and there was a D&B handbag that should have been retired a decade ago. Yet, they were pushing it like there was no tomorrow.

The last time I bought a D&B handbag, I went to the "I Love Dooney" website, got a cute bag, with an extra discount AND free shipping. It was a new style and pattern.

Given all I said above, I spend my money elsewhere and have for several years.

When I started recognizing inventory shown "years" ago, I knew the love affair was over

'Made in the USA' products are especially desirable these days.

You can buy VitaMix from Williams Sonoma to Amazon and lots of places in between.

I'd gotten mine directly from VitaMix.

@ILTH I agree. But even though I've had one for a zillion years I still enjoy watching presentations sometimes because it reminds me that I can do other things. We do use ours all the time and it is worth every penny for the smoothies (and the health and fridge cleaning properties thereof!).

I would not have bought one without the demos I saw on QVC.

I almost laughed when I looked online and saw the TSV for today. Another Sunday, another Vitamix, mattress, computer, Dyson, etc. So predictable, all the time.

I would LOVE to shop more from QVC, but they need to show me something different.

I so agree, especially about porcelain. Jazz it up, for pity's sake, people!!! Some of the ugliest stuff on earth is what I see on camera. If it were me involved in future buys to sell, I'd look at what Scandinavian countries (including The Netherlands) are selling NOW and research what is in the minds of their designers. Also, great stuff coming out of the Czech Republic, too.

I've wanted to purchase new flatware for every day use for a couple of years now, but every time I saw a "pattern" I liked, it was uber expensive. However, for about 3 months have been receiving daily emails from RueLaLa. This is a high end retailer that sells off what I'll call leftovers, many times in small lots. There are some pretty big names represented. Yesterday saw a Valentino Midi Dress retailing at $23,000+ on sale for less than 5k.

Anyway, I was so excited 3 weeks ago to find a Zwilling J.A. Henckels very simplified Art Deco 18/10 stainless set, retail $250.00, at Rue with 1 set remaining for $67.00. Boy, did I click that thing into my basket. *Nothing like German steel! Upon arrival, I was thrilled even more, as the screen description read service for 6 and did not show a salad fork. That was a tick of a letdown, but this would be our day-to-day and I knew the quality would be fantastic and the sharp edges on our current flatware would be gone.

What I received: Service for 8, (not 6) which included salad forks, plus 7 serving pieces, one of which was a butter knife. Pleased? You bet!

I only watch (mostly zone out) shopping shows when I'm over at a friend's who likes to watch. I have bought exercise equipment from QVC and HSN. They seem to have the best prices when I Google items and compare prices.

I bought my VitaMix years ago for frozen Margaritas and Daiquiris. 😃 That's what VM was made for!🤣 THE BEST!!!!🍹🍹

@KingstonsMomI know I was watching QVC when the 50/50 tours were being shown. I have no remembrance of anything sold during those shows. I have all sorts of QVC from the last 25+ years, but really nothing I know came from those shows.

Anyone remember what they bought during the 50/50's?

@millieshops One live show was from Arizona or somewhere and I bought a turquoise bracelet, and necklace, earrings and ring to match. I loved those jewelry shows where they would describe items better and give information on the stones. (And the mountains were in the background)!

Yes, I have some lovely things from Kentucky. Phyllis George, then the First Lady of the state, presented the crafts. They were well made and made here in this country.

I enjoyed some of the past selections: Tacori, Verragio, artisan collections including dolls/stuffed animals/glass ware (Fenton)....not a collector but there were some very unique, special items offered.

@1SnickersThanks. I don't remember that show, but I know I do treasure the Southwest jewelry I bought from local artists on various trips. I love turquoise, but never bought green until I toured Santa Fe and one of my favorite bracelets with many of the stones we associate with SW jewelry I found on a trip to San Antonio to celebrate an uncle's 80th birthday.

I love stories and the possessions I treasure most all seem to come with a story - some9times mine, smetimes the seller's. I assume this is one of the reasons I like the QVC story-tellers.

I agree. I turned on the TV a few minutes ago and there was the same old Dooney and Bourke crossbody bag they have been selling for the past two years. I don't carry a mega huge bag but I am as tired of the Trixie, pebble leather crossbody, and Zip Zip as I was that huge logo lock feed sack they offered several years ago in 300 colors.
