has anyone gotten a robo call and on caller id was your name and phone number. my mil has gotten it a bunch of times so far.

@Pooky1Haven't seen that, but I'm getting an increasing number of calls where the area code and the next 3 numbers are the same as those of someone I know. Unless I see a name I recognize, I just wait to see any message.

I have gotten emails from myself - sure they were!

Yes, I think we have all received calls like that. If they don't show your number, they show the Town Hall number or the Library number. Some local number that is publicily available. Anything to get us to answer the call. That's why those nuisance calls don't bother me at all. They are always two steps ahead of the phone companies and the authorities.

Yes. The calls were driving me nuts until a got a call blocker.The phone rings once and it's gone. If the number is already blocked it doesn't even ring.Today I have 18 calls that never rang but were blcked.

The original poster states the caller id is her own number. Do you block you own number? I have call blocker too but don't want to block my own number.

Yes and so have some of my friends. Called my phone carrier and they said there is nothing they can do about it. Its called spoofing.

Scammers are using fake caller ID information. The practice is called caller ID spoofing, and scammers don’t care whose phone number they use. One scammer recently used the phone number of an FTC employee.

There was a fairly recent news report on CBS discussing how phone carriers are working on ways to prevent spoofing.......

I’ve had two from the social security administration. I didn’t answer. I know they would not call.

All I push is delete and wouldn’t have my landline if it wasn’t needed for the security alarm.

This has happened to us, where we had a phone call that spoofed my husband's name and phone number, but it wasn't a legitimate phone call.

Not name but our phone number. I just laugh when I see it. If I don't know the # I don't answer.

@Pooky1 No. But have no fear. The federal government is on the case of "robo-calls", and has a plan to stop them. Of course we all remember how great the "Do Not Call List" is functioning.

I was on the phone talking to my mom and she got a beep and on her Caller ID was my number.

Earlier in the week I received a robo call and an oddly familiar name was showing on my caller ID. I quickly googled the name and realized I had just read this person’s obituary a few weeks earlier!

The first time it happened here, it kind of creeped me out.

Reminded me of the movie When a Stranger Calls.
