Does anyone agree? I'm not trying to be snarky but I think QVCs prices on clothing have gotten ridiculous. And I see people posting the same on Facebook when QVC advertises a piece of clothing for sale.

Shorts for 35-40 dollars? (I can get for 10 bucks locally) , tops for 50 some to 70? Jeans forget it, some are really outrageously priced compared to just a few years ago (and I don't feel they're made that well, some wore through at pockets). And its a shame because I love their clothing. But cant afford it anymore.(I don't work for years and DH is the only one working) Maybe if I worked id splurge and spend more but I doubt it..

I went to Boscovs today finally after my friend kept saying go there they have nice clothing if you look around. So I went and I got 2 nice tops, an awesome Summer cardigan, and 1 pair of dress shorts for the price of ONE of (example not targeting just her) Susan Gravers tops!

I hate going shopping too, especially with my bad back, its rough at times, but I can no longer afford QVCs clothing. (Other things yes, I still buy other things on QVC, but clothing no more) I wish they'd have sales like stores because the things are marked up on QVC. Same type (nicely made) clothing is in stores for much less!

There are many online stores. I buy pants and coats from Lands End. Rainwear from LLBean. I brought long sleeve tee shirts from Amazon for the winter.
Some of the stores have nice sales.

I buy all my clothing in petites from Macy's. I bought 5 pair of 100% cotton shorts for $9.95 (originally $32.95 each); navy blue jacket for $10.95 (originally $99.00). I get quality clothing for great prices. I am a Platinum member and I get free shipping. I bought a complete bedding collection from Martha Stewart for $100.00(originally $460.00). It is beautiful and it came with sheets, comforter, pillows, shams, bedskirt and a throw. It was a California King. I get so many good values I don't want to shop elsewhere.

IMHO, Q has no idea what a clearance prices means. They give you a couple of dollars off and they make it a big deal.

I use Befrugal and Macy's has a 10 percent cash back. So all in all, I can purchase quality items and pay for some of my shopping with this program. It is a win win situation.

I live rural. The closest stores for me to shop for clothes are all specialty boutiques. The prices the OP is complaining about is about normal or pretty cheap for what I pay. I find that if I pay little for my clothing, I'm having to buy more because they don't last. I prefer to buy better items, then I have clothing that will last forever and my closet isn't packed with junk.

I don't agree. Over the years everything has gone up in price and I really don't think paying $35-$40 for shorts is a high price or $50-$70 for a top and good quality and well fitting jeans for $60 to $100 or so is expensive. I know just to get a good fitting pair of shorts or jeans on the cheap (unless sale or clearance) is nearly impossible for me and when I have found cheaper ones that do fit - well they just don't hold up very well after a few washings. In the 70s I paid an average of $20-$30 for jeans and about $10-$20 for shorts so I don't think the prices are out of line now for good brands. B & M stores and many online cheaper sstores usually all have basically the same styles and just not for me.

What we choose to pay for clothing is an individual choice.

I completely agree. QVC clothing prices are getting out of hand. I was just over on the website for The Limited looking at several things. I have 2 blazers, 2 pair of pants, 1 pair of jeans, 1 chenille sweater and 7 tops in my cart for $334 with free shipping and returns. That’s an average of $26 per item. And the quality is very good. Better quality than most on QVC and certainly on par with the Vince Camuto brand. I used to do most of my shopping with QVC but they’re not competitive. I don’t want to pay more for something simply because I can. Makes no sense.

I have to agree! It's getting ridiculous. At first it seemed as though the Isaac line was staying "normal", but he's since started jacking up the prices and now Denim and Co too. Susan Graver and LOGO were the first to go astronomical with their pricing. I now place things I'm interested in on my Wish List and wait. The four lines I've mentioned above are very prolific with new items and eventually they have quite a few things on my Wish List go on clearance or Lunchtime Specials, which are even better discounts. Yesterday I picked up a nice Isaac cardi with bell sleeves in a pretty blue for $21. I do supplement locally with Kohl's or Talbot's at my local outlet mall. At no point will I pay $70 for a Susan Graver basic top with tank. With shipping and tax, that's over $80. Insane.

I don’t mind paying if it’s quality, but I’m not really seeing that with Qvc; recently bought two tops that are pilling already, and don’t get me started on logo...after a few washings my tops are practically see through. Unfortunately today, price doesn’t necessarily mean quality.

I have been shopping QVC and HSN for years because of the convenience and good quality clothing. Not so much anymore. Quality has gone down and prices way up. Just went to Macy's and got four tops. With sale prices extra discount and $10 bonus they came to what I would pay for one item from QVC and I didn't have to pay shipping. HSN has gotten so bad with their quality, I hardly ever purchase from them anymore and they use to be my favorite.

If you cannot afford QVC prices, stop watching QVC and shop with the retailers that sell what you want at the prices you want to pay. QVC isn't going to return to the QVC of the 1990's or early 2000's. Retail just doesn't work that way and honestly, QVC never was some low price discount operation. It's not that QVC's prices are higher, it's that you are older now and your income is lower. Stop watching fashion shows on QVC because that will only make you feel bad and resentful. Shop with brick&mortar retailers.

Aside from the original very high prices for items that can be found elsewhere for less, my main problem with QVC and now HSN which has become more like QVC unfortunately, is their lack of true sales. Saving $10 on a a $70 item is not a sale.

I do not want clothes that "last forever." I can't ever remember getting rid of an item, regardless of price, because it wore out.

IMO for many QVC is an addiction. All stores have websites, many with free or reduced shipping, but those who are used to shopping at QVC continue to do so regardless of the many, and usually better, alternatives.

That’s trash in my opinion. I don’t feel bad nor resentful. We’re just having a conversation about prices going up, quality going down.

I find that so much of clothing prices is simply marketing.
Those who like to defend the prices on QVC and other overly priced clothing are overlooking the fact that higher prices are not always higher quality but priced to what they think the "market will bear."

And people with a higher income will often defend their buying as wanting "better quality" when similar less expensive items are often made in the same factories with the same materials.

Yes there are better qualities of clothing in fabric, and workmanship and details, but they are not always because they are more expensive.

Those who defend higher priced items do not want to think they are being taken advantage of or duped into believing thay are purchasing better quality clothing.
And sometimes, those with higher incomes are just not willing to do the search to find the best values, priding themselves on buying the best and being loyal to a certain brand or company or store, (online or otherwise), defending the prices because admitting they are paying more than is reasonable or worth it, just is not something they would do.

What one person describes as quality is what others don't so that is subjective at best! I like clothing that isn't conservative and more eclectic and unique that I don't see everywhere and that is what is a part of quality for me also!

Those who are so overly defensive about lower cost clothing do so probably because they have convinced themselves that lower priced clothing is best and no matter what they will not pay more for anything no matter how much they actually would like something!!! If you are on a budget that doesn't allow for spending a lot on clothing then just say so. I grew up on clothing that was cheap and I didn't have a lot but that was ok and I made no excuses! Now I can afford what I like.

A lot of the lower priced clothing are actually rejects from the higher end and have flaws including in sizing.

I have never considered the price of anything I buy to be overpriced and have never felt I am being taken advantage of and I think that is just a cop out for those who never spend much on clothing anyway to justify buying cheap always!!

I find wasting time seaching for something I want or need to be aggravating and unnecessary. When I find what I like and want I will buy it and what I pay is worth it for me!!

While I get that some cannot afford to shop that way, I worked hard all my life so I don't have to buy what I don't want or like just because it's cheaper. My time is more important than saving a few dollars.

We are all different and can choose what we like and want to buy!
