We have a cat, and we will likely outlive her (she's 15), but we have family who have agreed to take her in case something happens to us. I know an elderly couple (mid-70s) who are not in great health who got a puppy (a breed that will live up to 16 years). It is possible the dog will outlive them. I just wonder what happens to all of these pets when people pass away and don't have plans for anyone to care for them.
