I have been following this. So sad. I think the mother did this.

The poor child was born with drugs in his system.

Alot of problems with the family in his young life.

The mother is close to having another baby!

OMG....I was just wondering this morning about him. Obviously the parent's behavior was odd. The mother already lawyered up several days ago. The same day he was reported missing. She already tried to distance herself from the father.

I didn't know she was pregnant. Another child in the house was removed several days ago.

Did they have a press update/ statement abut this?

Yeah, once I heard the bloodhounds never left the immediate house area to find the sniffing trail I knew something wasn't right.

AJ Freund's parents charged with first-degree murder

Crystal Lake Police are charging both of AJ Freund's parents with murder after the two provided information that led police to his body, which was discovered in a remote area of Woodstock, Illinois.

The cause of death is unknown.

The boy's father, Andrew Freund Sr., and his mother, JoAnn Cunningham, are charged with five counts of first-degree murder as well as a variety of other charges, including battery and failure to report a missing child, police said.

Police added that it was forensic evidence from cell phone data that was presented to the parents during interview that led to a break in the case.

Judging from the charges, this child was beaten, among other things. When I heard where they found him and the plastic he was in, I was reminded of the little Anthony girl. These people are monsters. They both have been charged. Sickening.

This is just so sad. Poor little boy. He was taken from his parents twice due to charges of neglect and abuse, but returned because charges were unfounded. The parents may have killed him, but Illinois didn't protect him.

It’s horrible enough to think of what that innocent little tyke went through. But when there’s evidence of obvious neglect/abuse, and the authorities do not remove a child to protect him...Well, my blood boils. I know he is safe in the arms of God now. I am so sorry for what has happened to you, little one.

The mother is 36 and 7 months pregnant. The father is 60 years old.

Inside Edition said police had come 17 times in 5 years. They lived at

times with no electricity and in filth. Their poor dog was taken away.

The poor child had no chance.

Not only was this poor child abused by his parents but he was also abused by the state. Why oh why. after so many calls to the police, the last one reporting that the home was inhabitable and there was a large bruise on one of the children, was the children not taken and the parents arrested? Once again, social services dropped the ball and a dear child paid the price.

That is such a serious problem. Terrible parents produce kids all the time. The state social services can only do so much. A biological parent always supersedes the state. So often they are given back after after intervention. My sister (she has a master's in sociology) is always going on about this. For a long period Florida had a terrible record of social services screw ups. I remember the death of a little girl that was the result when they returned the child to the biological mother. Lost track of the girl till she turned up dead in a ditch.

Child Services visited this home over 10 times and this poor soul was never removed. These stories need to stop.

I worked with very troubled kids and dysfunctional families during my 41 yrs, in an urban school system. When I first started I had a terrible family I had to visit often because their kids didn't go to school. I am not going to go into detail because it is a long story. I took the parent to court for parental neglect and shortly after they moved across country to get away from the system, the father was always nasty. They lived in an apartment over a bar, I'll never forget. A short time after they left the owner was renovating and having the basement done. The workers found human remains. It was the youngest child of the horrible family who left.

The authorities extradited the family from where they lived and the father claimed the deceased boy choked on food, of course a complete lie. The father was abusive and the mother terrified. He was sentenced to jail. This happened in the early seventies and I never forgot. At the time it was such an emotional experience for me and I wish I had been able to do more. However, I knew when the crime was discovered the family had left to get out of state.

There were agencies involved with the family at the time and as a school employee I did what I could within my limits. It was such a difficult case with many issues.

I hope these parents who murdered this young five year old are thrown in jail for a very long time, what a heart breaking situation. It brings back sad memories of the case I had so long ago.
