While Searching "Who Eats All That Food"....I found....

So, I stay up very late at night...in bed..eating and watching TV.

Over and over I watched Rick and the grill guy pulling out massive amounts of meat from the cooker. Once again...I went to the internet and asked the same question I always ask..."Who Eats ..bla bla".

Funny, I came upon different posts of mine asking the same question (and many of your same responses). That's not the reason I'm posting this.

I came upon several from YouTube with David taking the viewers on a journey to visit and show behind the scenes of the various kitchens, cameras, etc.

This wasn't new to me as I've seen much of this before. I enjoyed the article from the Huffington Post (interview with David).

I did find it interesting the way they showed the 2 screens the Hosts constantly look into. Most of us already know much of this (it's still interesting to see how much of it is 'managing us' as far as selling.

I wonder how many viewers have no idea of what's going on behind the scenes on QVC, HSN, etc. Most people have no idea about the science that goes into (especially) one of David's shows.

We've all known he is the top seller on QVC. I had no idea on how much QVC relies on him to sell..sell..sell. He's good at it and relatable to male and female. For the most part he's a likable person. I enjoy watching him on Sundays...for awhile. He convinces me to buy 'stuff' I don't need but I'm an easy sell (unfortunately, Ha).

Anyway, if you're interested google what I did and watch David give you an indepth journey through his kitchens, etc.

Incidentally, there is no way at 1:00 and 2:00 AM there are enough people in that building available to eat all of the huge amounts of meat prepared by the cooker guy!

I hope they are able to give at least some of it (coming right off of that grill it does not go bad) to homeless shelters, etc in the area.

Denver has an enormous homeless population. I know they'd have loved to have served some of it. Understand, I'm talking about the roasts, etc that he immediately removes from the grill time after time.

I know all about fake food and hot lights, etc. Don't bother explaining (again) about all of that. I'm talking about over and over he takes those huge ribs, roasts, etc right off of the grill over and over.

I think because I keep hearing about our homeless population (and seeing it first hand in Denver), I can't stop thinking about it.

It did answer one of my questions though. I kept wondering why in the past few years Whole Foods is shown on wrappers when it used to be hidden. Now I understand what my late husband used to say, "You scratch my back...I scratch yours". Just good business.

I think QVC is probably good to the state of Pennsylvania and especially good to the surrounding cities.

My assumption was that what the crew doesn't eat gets thrown out.

I just assumed ( I know I shouldn't) that the cast and crew ate what was cooked as long as it was safe and sanitary.

I see that QVC always shows generic products from Wegman's. I have never seen Whole Foods products.

I've wondered if Wegmans pays for product placement, or does it just provide the items free of charge. It's good marketing in any case.

I find the thought of all that food going to waste very upsetting. I truly hope that is not the case.

That food sits under hot studio lights and is not refrigerated. They can’t give it to anyone except the crew on stage if they want to eat it.

Food is only good if it is kept under optimum temperature and sanitary conditions.

I heard them one night saying they all were telling people on the show to pack up in foodsaver bags, and lock n lock, and take some home for dinner, lunch, and snacks.

There are federal laws stating that left over food can NOT be donated to any shelters. This is why restaurants, grocery stores can NOT give away left over foods.

Some time ago they mentioned donating the food to a charity/soup kitchen. As of a few years ago, they cannot do this due to Health Dept. regulations. I know where I live I baked and donated cupcakes, etc. to a charity that serves meals to anyone in need at no cost. A few years ago I had to stop as they said the Health Dept. came by and said they can no longer accept home made items. I think the crew at QVC is given the opportunity to eat food that has not been under the lights too long or used just as a demol.

You do have a QVC food obsession. When you consider the number of homeless and food pantries and charities that dispense meals to the needy; QVC doesn't have all that much food. It might seem like a lot to you but it truly isn't a lot at all. Some of it has been sprayed with oil and otherwise doctored up to look beautiful and it's not edible. All tv food shows do that. Some of it has been sitting around under hot lights with people and equipment buzzing around it for hours, it's not edible. What's left goes to the crew. I am sure that QVC is a good neighbor and does support various causes and charities. If they did donate food, it wouldn't be the food from shows; it would be food left over from their cafeteria.

@FlowerBear Homeless shelters aren’t allowed to accept that food.

Actually, that's not true. Most of the big company cafeterias in this area and and the restaurants donate food. There are rule about how it must be packaged, dated and labeled and those packaged meals are dispensed to participating charities.

There are no such federal laws. I am sure there are local health requirements for donated food. The food being displayed on TV may not meet sanitary requirements. For example, in NYC (maybe everywhere) food preparers need to wear hats and gloves.

That's not true.

My daughter works for Darden and they have their own "harvest" program for what may not be considered restaurant quality fish or beef.

As long as they follow the safety and sanitation guide lines it gets picked up and delivered by Darden.

If Whole Foods labels are shown, they are paying QVC to show their brand. Most brands are blacked out or turned away from the camera...the same on Food Network...but they would have to pay the food companies to show their brands...so it can work both ways.

There are some regulations that will allow leftover foods to be donated depending upon how old they are. Bread, for example, can’t be served or donated if it is older than 3 hours if baked on the premises, and it varies by state. The grocery store close to me lets ranchers and farmers take produce and bakery goods for their horses and other animals and load their pickups with it each morning at 5 am...to make room for the fresh stuff. Not being consumed by humans is not so strictly regulated. I used to see the same guy with piles of produce every morning during the summe.

Wegmans along with other major food chains used to donate left over food to area shelters. Guess what happenned? Lawyers got involved, risk to their health, and why were they discriminated against getting only OLD food...no major food chain donates anymore...it all gets dumped. Im sure its the same with the Q

Demonstrating with food is just demonstrating with

a disposable product. There’s so much emotion around

the product food when they waste makeup, skincare,

gas for grills & about a zillion other things wasted.
