In Stock Alert -- anyone ever get one?

This is just out of curiosity, nothing more.

Many places have a notification for shoppers if they are out of something they will send you an "in stock" alert if you leave your email.

I'm thinking it's mostly a waste of time.

The ONLY place that has ever sent me a notice is Zulily.

I was shopping online at Walmart and several things I wanted were out, so, I filled in the instock alert.

Then, I laughed to myself realizing I had been doing this for a few years and NEVER, EVER have I gotten a notice something was back in stock.

Like I said, I'm just curious.

Yes.I get them from Zappos & Shoes.Com all the time.

I get them from Zulily and another retailer but by the time you sign-in the item is already sold out again...I was so tired of being played that I just delete the emails now

Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, HSN, and Zulily do. I believe QVC sent me one or two in the past that had been on my wishlist.

For the first three, I think it depends on returns, not reorders. NM occasionally reorders something if it sold out quickly, but often doesn't show up until the next season.

True about Walmart, but what I put on alert didn't come back in stock after 8 months. Still watching.

Ive gotten notices from Evine. I don't think QVC's antiquated computer is sophisticated enough to be able to tell us when something is back in stock.

I'm happy to see other stores fulfill that request. Apparantly, it is a failing of Walmart.

I agree with you that many times, stuff just never comes back. They order/sell one round of something and that's it.

I don't recall every getting such a notice but I never requested one either. If a retailer doesn't have what I want when I want it; I move on. I don't care if it's available at some later date.

On the World Market website I can indicate which products I'm "watching". World Market sends me an email of a watched item comes back into stock or has a drop in price.

Yes, actually QVC has sent me those, though without my volition - just something I think I had saved for later, or was N/A when I tried to order it.

A Christmas gift for DH was bought last year because of it.
