Yes! I will often see some retired couples who do almost everything together and to save money go down to one car and downsize their home. As a result they are together most of the time which to me is just too much!

Next week I'm going to visit my mother in Florida for 10 days. DH will stay at home but I will be happy to see him again when I return!

I retired before hubby and once he retired, OMG!

He's an engineer, so I encouraged him to find a hobby that related to his field, since that's his primary interest.

I already had my daily routine before he retired and now I have it back!

ETA: If I'm wrong about what your post meant, I'll feel like a total IDIOT, LOL!

@KingstonsMom I'm not sure what Retired meant by the OP so I feel a bit silly however my DH is a retired engineer too....always with the projects around the house which drives me crazy! Everything takes forever too because it has to be just so!

Their response is often "oh, no! I have to stay home and watch him watch football. Just in case he might NEED me"

Speaking for myself...learned long ago I'm not relationship material. Goodness knows had my fair share of opportunities. At this point in life unimaginable living with someone. Thankfully, Not even on the table for discussion.

I do but I can only speak for myself. I do know of 2 couples; one retired and one not. Long time marrieds, one 50 years and the other 40 years. Excluding work, they spend 100% of their time together. You never see one without the other. They do everything together but it's not for me to say that it is "too much togetherness". Only they can make that determination. I love my husband with all my heart, he's my everything but we each have our own lives. Different interests, different friends. We spend time together but we also go off and do our own thing.

I’m a homebody. I can always find something to do or just laze around. Read, tv, cats,etc.

On the other hand, my husband is always busy. Doing something around the house, helping his friends doing something around their homes, going to his clubs, running errands.

We see each other for dinner and at night. Works for both of us.

Oh, I understand completely, Hubs is so meticulous at household projects, it takes forever!

He does Geo-caching now for a hobby, he loves it and it gets him out of my hair, LOL!

Think a scavenger hunt, using GPS coordinates to find the 'cache', that's geo-caching.

As a matter of fact, Hubs & Kingston are out geo-caching today, YAY!
