I wonder about 2 things: first can a senior dog who's lived all his life in a shelter make a good pet &amp; second, do shelters put their senior dogs to sleep? I am having trouble finding one. Where I live, breed rescue groups are more than 100 miles away. Our local animal shelter has only younger dogs &amp; puppies &amp; the same is true of the Humane Society.
