Evine Live in trouble

While googling for Evine this morning I ran across this article that stated:

Nasdaq has warned television and online shopping channel Evine Live Inc. that it is in danger of being delisted from the stock exchange, a move that is triggered when a company's stock price dips below $1 at the closing bell for 30 consecutive business days.

I am not financial-saavy but you can find the rest of the story.

I was flipping by the other night and something that was on air had sold only 100 units so far, and the presentation had been on for a while. I think it was some skin cream.

Interesting. SSC had a huge success with their launch; more money made than when launching new products at HSN I believe (read that on the beauty thread somewhere).

The few vendors I follow always sell out when on. Selling 5000 of a product in 48 hours isn't too shabby. It's why so many lines want to be on shopping channels.

I don't know. There are many well made/high quality lines on Evine (vs HSN and QVC when it comes to jewelry) that I don't understand what's going on for Evine to be doing so poorly.

@brandiwine Joy left HSN, not Evine.

The jury is still out as to why SKINN left. Beekman let on that part of the reason was due to Evine's very poor customer service policies (which comes from corporate).

Is HSN in trouble? Many lines have left that company and moved to Evine.

In the end, who knows.

IMO, all the shopping channels are in various stages of "trouble." When they started 30+ years ago, they were a novelty and the only other option were b&m stores. Now every store has a website and there's Amazon.

Michael Valitutti stated he had given up other endeavors and Evine was his only home. I bet he and Chuck are sweating bullets.

I won't buy from Evine because of their ridiculous policies!

I had been on auto-delivery once. Apparently, when I called to cancel the customer service rep only cancelled the next shipment not the AD plan, unbeknownst to me. I was amazed at the 'battle' I had to go threw with a C/S supervisor. I gave up, got stuck with the shipment (after the cancelled shipment) all because of a C/S rep's error.

Anyways, they lost in the end - they lost me as a customer and I made sure I let everyone know not to do business with Evine. It's surprising how word-of-mouth works!

I hope those vendors mentioned above can join a more reputable shopping channel.

I think they already are... None of them has done anything remotely innovative in decades and, in fact, seem intent on continuing to narrow their focus... There was about a half decade window when I found them fun and engaging. That ship has sailed and while it's clear reading these boards that others continue to be somewhat habituated to them, I don't think future generations will catch the bug... Meanwhile, they do next to nothing to encourage retention of their existing customers...

The only one I watch hasn't had anything new in eons (and how much makeup and food can one buy?), doesn't have sales, and is rapidly slipping down the ladder of interest with me.

You summed that up nicely, @stevieb. I do think they'll be around though in a much lesser level just because of many customers inability to get out or distance from B&M stores.

And, as you stated they haven't done anything to retain existing customers. I, for one, often switch to them when sick of news, etc., or halftime in yesterday's game. GO PAT'S!!!!! (Sorry, couldn't control myself.)

That says a lot. QVC should pay attention to their loyal customers. It's a whole lot easier to keep a customer then it is to get a new one.

Sears has unfortunately learned the hard way...they used to be the #1 largest retailer.

I have not purchased anything from Evine for many years. Mainly because I could no longer access my account for some reason. When I did buy from them the receipt used to have the NBC symbol at the top left hand corner. Does NBC still own Evine? Or did NBC sell them off?

Vendors are in it to make a buck, there is no loyalty, they'll go to whichever shopping channel offers the best contract.

Speaking of which.., I don' think the several name changes did a thing to promote them or make them appear as a stable retail enterprise... First it was ShopNBC... then ShopHQ... then Evine... The Evine moniker is probably the least sensible, as it makes little sense to many people...

I've only ever watched Evine a very few times, so I wouldn't miss them. I only made one purchase from them, and that was a Beekman item, back when the Beekman boys were on there.

I actually enjoy watching Evine when certain shows are on. I like Michael Valitutti's Gems En Vogue & every now & then I'll catch one of the One World fashion shows.
