Before I delve into what I want to say, I'd like to preface my post with the following. I think that anyone here that has read my previous posts know I'm a huge supporter of the sisterhood of women. I applaud your successes, I try to help through your lowspots, and I want all of my sisters to be all they can be. In the early 70's I was putting myself through college and working full time at a factory on the second shift. My supervisor was a disgusting pig of a man (married) that thought "pawing" the females who worked for him was acceptable. I was 19 years old and let him know he was not to touch me. A wonderful woman I worked with, Rose, a mid-40s widowed woman with 6 kids told me I couldn't talk to him like that or I would lose my job. I told her, "Rose, let him fire me. We have rights. We do our jobs and shouldn't have to be subjected to his disgusting behavior." Well guess what, pig man knocked it off and we worked in peace!

Now to the point of my post. Cleveland Radio Station, Star 102. WDOK-FM has decided to stop playing the 1944 classic Baby It's Cold Outside as they think it's "manipulative and offensive" They think in the age of #MeToo it has no place in their line-up.

I think their decision is ridiculous. It's an adorable song and when written there was no intent to harm women. What's next? Should we ban Santa Baby? Women were asking for Santa to bring ermine and minks as they had been awful good girls.

The Beatles wrote about Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds (LSD), The Stones couldn't get No Satisfaction. The list goes on and on. When is enough really enough.

@Its Me LuLuBelle2, I agree with you. There are people who will take offense at anything relating to either history or lifestyles years ago. I grew up with this wonderful song and would have never jumped to the conclusion that's been made. I think there are more issues with some of the music today, but of course that issue is seldom raised.

I grew up hearing the song too but have you really paid attention to the lyrics? I don’t think the guy’s intentions are innocent. I always wondered about the line where she asks “say, what’s in this drink?”

@Its Me LuLuBelle2...I read this on the news last week...it's ridiculous.....I say what about rap music, some of the lyrics are disgusting.

There is more I could say but sometimes the less you say the better.

Oh and I did not now at the time that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, was about drugs...I just liked the song!! and when I was youger my mom would turn down the radio when a certain song came on...she heard the words of the song and did not approve...I had no idea what they were singing about (learned later on is was bed hopping)....again, just liked the song...tune, etc.

IF she was cooerced then WHY was SHE singing along at the end? Perhaps one should continue to hear it as a cautionary tale?

THe song I NEVER can get over hearing on the radio is "Under My Thumb" If you're going to get all fussy then How in the world is that one still being played? Get a grip people. Don't erase the past because you don't like it. Strive to change the future.

I heard about this - the radio station that won't play the song because it sounds manipulative. Whenever I hear the song, I think of the time Lisa Robertson and Dave King sang it - you can find it on YouTube. Now I'll wonder if Dave had bad intentions.

When I hear this nonsense about the song I just think "OH GROW UP!" Take responsibility for what you do and quit carping about stupid stuff like this.

The Beatles consistently denied the song was about LSD. It was supposedly about a drawing Julian Lennon, John's son, brought home from school. He was asked who the girl in the picture was and he said "Lucy" I believe she was maybe a classmate. He was asked what's that in the sky and he said "Diamonds!" Julian has told the story.

But really, the rap world of music and people are terrified about Baby It's Cold Outside? Boo hoo.

I just watched the video for the first time today.

They are ruining these old songs and taking it way too far.

Everything under the sun is being scrutinized. Let's enjoy them not destroy them.

The song was written by Frank Loesser who wrote it to sing with his wife. They were a big success at parties. “What’s in this drink” was a common idiom used during this time. All innocent.
