Those affected by the California fires, or actually anyone in the US, can go to airnow.gov and plug in your zip code to see the air quality today for your local area as well as a forecast.

Thank you for posting this!

I totally forgot about a leader within my Plant Based world.

She’s from Chico.

Her FB Page is an open page, so anyone can view.

Seems her home was saved...and she’s spending her time

gathering and organizing things for those in tents in the

large Walmart parking area. Her FB feed is almost like a

ground zero...gives you a small sense of what’s going on.

She shared a post about the air quality quality in Oakland

which is 3hrs. away from Chico. Can’t imagine the air quality

in Chico/Paradise. I have a feeling there’s going to be long-term

effects in terms of lung damage.

We live about 80 miles from Paradise and have had terrible air quality for over a week -- everything from "moderate" to "hazardous" depending on the day and even the time of day. No school for our kids on Friday, and other districts were out for more days than that. As you might see from the map, the air quality does not correlate to distance from the fires. There's a big marathon in Sacramento in two weeks, and it has been a challenge to get in training runs with the air quality worries -- mornings have, in general, been OK (moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups), but many people have had to resort to treadmill running (yuck). Anyway, most people around here check AIRNow (or other sources) frequently throughout the day. I have it open in a tab on my computer and refresh frequently to see where things stand.
