That's not exactly what the article says.

Summary: If you HAVE ink, it MAY travel to the lymph nodes (far more research is needed) AND doctors aren't sure if that's really such a bad thing.

Bottom line: don't freak out over it.

(I have ink, btw).

You might want to do more reading and decide whether the practice is safe over a lifetime.

Scientific articles seem to abound on this subject, which I knew nothing about until yesterday.

I don't think OP actually read the article. It talks about risks and what "might" be happening and what effects it "could" happen...maybe...depending on further research. There are no definitives in that article but I tend to use my common sense about things and I always thought that injecting ink, the origins of which I know nothing about, could present health issues and isn't worth the risk even if it's a very, very small risk.

The Science Daily article does seem to confirm that the OP's title is indeed correct.

I am not a scientist, nor do I play one on the QVC Boards , but it seems to me that anything that enters your skin via blood, would enter your bloodstream and travel where the blood travels, with the attendant possible risks.

What message? Don't blame me or the other posters for daring to say that the article did not in any way say what your title implied. You have take into account the qualifiers; maybe, perhaps, might, could. The author(s) used them for a reason.

Will again suggest you do your own research and confirm or refute to your own satisfaction whether the statement made in our metro newspaper that the following is true......(I personally don't care.).....

Have had mine since the Spring of 1958. Whatever this ink did, if anything, must be a positive for me. This is just another in a long string of: " Could/Might/Possibly BE'S" stories to do what exactly? Shake up people already thinking they have every possible ailment that supposedly exists.

If you already have a tatoo then you really have no control over whether or not the ink used has or will create problems for you.

But if you are contemplating getting a tattoo, the confirmation (in the Science Daily article) that the ink does indeed reach the lymph nodes) might make you think twice.

Knowledge is a good thing. But of course we all have the choice here of whether to get a tattoo or not.

I agree. Anyone thinking of putting any foreign substance into their body should certainly do their diligent research before having it done. My thinking is that most here on this forum are, on average, past the age of thinking of adding a tattoo. But many do have offspring, and grand offspring, that may have this on their agenda.

I've read things about the ink before. I would make sure whatever was used on me, was a safe form of ink. We get so many things now, that are recalled ,and once the ink is inside of you, you're stuck with it

This wasn't something people had to be concerned with ,years ago
