Veterans Day Sale Tonight

Is it just me or does anyone else think that using Veterans Day to promote 6 easy pays tonight is just not appropriate? Let us honor our Veterans on Veterans Day. If you are having a sale, at least give the Veterans a discount like other restaurants etc.

My dh has always said all veterans should get the day off work instead of businesses closing and the employees getting the day off...there are probably veterans in the mix of those whose business close, but you get my point.

No worse that the dozens of TV ads for cars, mattresses, furniture, appliances and general merchandise that have been showing for the past week. Just check the online and print ads from most store websites to see what sales they are having in "honor" of Veterans Day.

I do, however, fully support restaurants that give free meals to Veterans (and usually active military) on Veterans Day and also those businesses that offer discounts to Veterans (and active military) throughout the year.

My husband is a partially disabled vet and I have no problem with it. Now, Memorial Day would bother me as it’s a solemn occasion

@Plain Ann Veteran's Day sales are all over the place, not just at the Q.

How would the Q determine who is a veteran in order to offer a discount????

I understand your sentiment and I do appreciate it, more than you know.

Yet there will be folks all across the board who will not even blink an eye at Veteran's Day; and there will be folks who recognize what our vets stand for.

It's the way it is, whether we like it or not.

Much akin to Fourth of July.

I have a feeling many confuse Memorial Day w/ Veterans Day.

I think it is tacky and disrespectful. I so admire that our country gives the actual day of observance on the day of the anniversary. This year Monday is the official day but if the 11th falls on a Wed., for example then that is the day. We do not allow Veteran's Day to just be a another three day weekend unless it is close to a weekend. These men and women fought for us.

on the following business day, November 12 Monday.

Many official US public holidays have a ‘floating’ observance.

They have for years.

If we don’t float it, it would mean Veterans would be

punished by not observing them on the next business day.

Kinda backwards.

Not at all, I am just glad they have not turned into a three day weekend every single year. It is not a day to stay home from work.
