I once had a friend who was the bravest and most beautiful woman on earth.Sadly she passed from cancer 18 yrs ago at 42.Her memorial was at a large golf club and still there there wasn’t enough room.many people had to listen from outside.She was very loved.

The last time I saw her we had lunch at her favourite restaurant and she had the waitress take a picture of us.I have that picture in my family room so that I can see her smile every day.

During summer I thought about a dear work friend who died 19 years ago of cancer. We had daughters the same age and became close friends in a short time and then sadly she was gone. In September, my daughter called and asked if I knew this lady. I said, I used to work with her and she passed away. I didn't realize my daughter works with her daughter. This daughter's dad retired and she went through boxes with him. The visitation journal from her mom's funeral was in a box. She saw my name then asked my daughter if she knew me. Daughter asked for stories about her mom and I wrote down a few. [law of attraction?] Maybe

I once had a "friend" that dumped me after 7 years when she no longer needed a carpool buddy.

I too had a friend who died in her early 40s from breast cancer.

I have lost 3 special friends, all before their time, should have been up. Each one was a dear soul ,who taught me many things, that were worth knowing. God bless each one and know I loved you dearly

I believe my best friends are still in this world. I haven't seen them in years but frequently think back on our experiences together.

To bring this around to happy thoughts..I once had a friend who I snuck into the craft fair with.The first time was unintentional.It was raining buckets and we had to park far from the venue.I spotted a back door that was closer to us and we rushed to it.Found out when we were leaving that there was a 2 dollar entrance fee.We laughed so hard because neither of us would ever do something like that but then we decided to make it a tradition and so the next year we did it again.We felt wicked.This craft event was the first to charge an admittance fee in our small town so we really never expected there to be a charge but we purchased many gifts so I hope that made up for it....we figure we can still get into heaven as we have been good people in the years that followed.

After being friends for 15 years a so called friend got mad at me 10 years ago because I would not vote for her choice of Presidential candidate, thinking that he was the end all, be all, walked on water and would save the world...

I felt he was a snake oil salesman...

Guess that she was not really a friend...

bare with me then...we did everhing together. she played the accordian, e read comic books together. she had long long hair. we pled paper dolls too. her mom use to drive us to jr. hi in winter, 5-6 of us.

This is very sad. I once had a friend. On my first day at a new job he told me how much I would like it there and I did. We had him out to the house for supper and he came to our wedding. Things really started to change. He started stalking us and threatened DH's life. Long story short we had to serve him w/a Personal Protection Order and he was eventually fired. Found out later he had done the same to others. I was very sad because he was such a good friend.

since I am a retired military member wife have had many friends over the years.

I always wonder what ever happened to Pat, she was stationed in Chicago with us . She and her family, we moved before them so never found out where they were going to next.

there were so many other people who i got to know over the past 50 yrs. Yet so many of them were either moving before us, or we left before them.

An aunt by marriage was my dearest friend. When she died in her early 80’s, I gave her eulogy after the Requiem Mass.

As I watched the large crowd come out of the church, I was amazed at how many folks, young and old, were in tears. She was full of grace and shared it with everyone.

So missed still....

I once had a friend, Sweet Pete. Former Marine, inner city cop where I gew up. He looked out for me, saved my behind in a very bad situation once.

Then I had a friend who was a Shoe Maven. She taught me that red stillettos w/3" heels turns heads. 😉

I feel so blessed to have had the best friend ever. We were long time buddies. Very much alike. She died years ago of cancer. Suffered a long time. We were so much alike and different. Just a perfect match. Did everything together. You can’t replace a friend.

My life has been blessed by a wide variety of friends; school friends, family friends, and work friends.

My school friend of 58 years. CJ is a free spirit, a world traveler, but calls me her rock and says I’m the only person who really knows her. We never fought as kids, and she never gets mad at me for making her face the truth about the things she is still trying to run away from.

Family friend Eileen who taught me to drive, and seemed to have all the patience in the world. When I started school, she was one of the “big girls” on my bus. She was the big sister I never had; we shared a love of Elvis, danced to his music, and tried to be first in line at his movies. She passed 15 years ago to lung cancer, and is still missed.

Work friend Mitzy who was my biggest supporter in a new job, where the department had been without a secretary for 2 months. I never would’ve made it in that job without her. She had ovarian cancer, and didn’t make it to 40. The night I said goodbye to her, I told her I was pregnant, and she was so happy for me. The office was never the same after she died.

Work friends Eddie, Bill, Craig, and Alice, who taught me the ropes on 11-7 shift, and were my go-to peeps. Eddie and Bill died in tragic car accidents, Craig and Alice died of cancer.

These wonderful people, and so many more, have added so much to my life, helped shape me into who I am today. To this day, just saying their names makes me smile! I hope that one day when I’m gone, someone says my name, and smiles.
