After seeing a label on a chicken product that I used in cooking dinner last night, saying it was "hormone-free".plus free of nitrates and other bad stuff........it seemed some education was needed about this subject.

Anyone can find a wealth of info online about government rules for raising livestock without hormones. But just in case we didn't know this before, here is one bit of info.......

<<Fact: Federal law prohibits the use of hormones in poultry production. Polling data showed that many consumers were confused about when hormones were used in livestock and poultry production and about their safety.>>

Yes I know that but a lot of people don't. They list stuff like no hormones, no antibiotics ever to get people to buy it not knowing it's against the law to use hormones in poultry.

Even the poultry that says no antibiotics there are. Those chickens are eating the same place the chickens are that do get the antibiotics from feed. They are suppose to go thru a 7-14 withdrawal period before processing.

I'm pretty sure they also need to put on there that it is against the law to use hormones in addition to hormone free labels so you in essence know it's nonsense. I want to say Dr. Oz did a segment on this.

What many don’t realize, animals produce naturally

occurring hormones which are detrimental to our health.

Funny to see the Public spending more $$ on

free-range, unicorn eggs/dairy/meat when the most

natural animal product/byproduct has hormones

we shouldn’t be consuming anyway.

I had a cat who needed insulin &

I’m aware of Armour thyroid medication...but that doesn’t

mean we should be eating their muscles & byproducts

in the quantities Humans do...it’s not healthy..and the statistics

are showing that to be true.

My father and mother, aunt, and one grandmother lived to 94 and beyond and ALL consumed a lot of meat (we raised cattle) and poultry (my grandmother had scads of chickens and ate the beef as well).

So no, I'm not at all convinced that good lean meat and poultry harmful to human health. I have seen too many old folks in my city who are living proof it isn't so.
