Yep I heard about it on the news this morning and will tell my staff today as well. Wednesday is matinee day for the broadway theatre here in NYC and most off the shows start at 2pm if I recall so I'm thinking what a mess that will be for those that don't know how to turn off their phones and it has happened I have been at shows and people actually need assistance because they didn't know how to shutdown their phones.

Everything I’ve read tells me as long as the phone is ON,

like silenced, Airplant Mode, etc... they will receive the

tone/vibration/text.

Same here. Just thinking that some folks don’t watch a lot of tv and I turn cell off when I take a nap or don’t want anymore robo calls....So how would those people and I find out about a national emergency. Maybe they need to have the air raid sirens like in the old days!!!

You don't have to turn off your phone. Just turn off your alert capability in your phone settings.

DH and I did not get the phone alert because those settings are off. It did come on the TV.

@Shanus I agree and I wasn't clear. Our settings are off right now and so we didn't get the alert. We don't leave them off all the time.

Sometimes those severe thunderstorm alerts at 3 in the morning are annoying. LOL
