Email from usps re theft of Netflix overnight

Wondering if anyone else received email from usps re thefts of Netflix from the blue mailboxes. They recommend posting in P.O. or outside P.O. Checking when mail is picked up from box and not posting over a Sunday , holiday or even overnight.

Nowhere do they mention developing a more secure mailbox.

My dh mails my returns in P.O.— what a world 🌎 we live in.

I haven't received that email. I mail my DVD back in my personal unsecure mail box - in fact I put one in there this morning with the flag up.

Very interesting. I haven't received the mail yet but I put one in the box outside the post office on a Sunday about a month ago that Netflix did not receive. When I realized that they weren't shipping another I let them know when and where it had been mailed and they resumed shipping. I do find it really hard to believe that anyone in our tiny town would want or have the ability to get it from the box. It's probably (well, I don't know) never had a problem before.

I never put outgoing mail in my mailbox! I've tried to get my friends to stop doing it, but they ignore me.

My one friend lives on a road that many, many drive past (it's a two lane road that's become a major highway).

My other friend drops her bills and things in any PO box she see anywhere.

There are so many post offices around where we live, it only takes a minute to either go to the post office OR right out in front of the post office are several large (and secure) boxes.

It just takes a minute to plan ahead when running errands.

I do agree none of us should have to give this any thought. This is a world where people no longer get punished for what they do. Why should thieves worry? Nothing happens to them.

A year ago last Christmas someone broke into a gas station pump I'd used and took out the magnetic tape from inside the pump. With that they had access to my debit card number AND the pin number. They promptly used those numbers to withdraw $480 from my account.

Wellsfargo called me before I even realized it missing. They'd put the money back in there. The investigator called me and couldn't understand why I got so angry when he said they would not investigate it any further because it wasn't cost effective. They only investigate it when it's over $500. I said, "I'm one person. Can you imagine how many people were robbed from that one gas pump? That is crazy". He acted like I was being silly thinking that way.

the only time i put outgoing mail in my mailbox is when i actually see our postman drive up the street. otherwise, i take it right to the post office or sometimes to a blue mailbox.

i only use the netflix services online, not via mail.

In Westchester County, New York, we have been advised of a scam called "Fishing" in our mailboxes with the chute type of entry. Thieves get a long stick - put tape at the bottom and shove the stick in the chute type mailbox and remove mail. They look for checks. When they open up envelopes which they believe are checks, they do what is called "washing." This involves removing the signature and the person for whom the check is written to, and putting their own name, etc. and cashing it. Many people's rent checks etc. was never received.

The Postmaster and the Police warned us to put any checks directly inside the post office mail. And told us to buy permanent ink pens. Staples sells them. Also they redesigned the mailboxes. Now there are no chutes - just thin slots so that the "Fishing" stick cannot fit. I bring all of my important mail directly inside the Post Office. Also more areas in New York have been hit by this scam. What is this world coming to!

I take my outgoing mail to work. My apartment's on the first floor right on the street and anyone can walk onto the porch and steal mail. This way, I know it's safer in the school main office.

I don't mail a lot anymore but I take it right to the post office and drop it inside.

I was never to crazy about dropping it into one of the blue boxes on the corners. I always thought some one could figure out how to steal from it or set it on fire.

I put things in my mailbox on the curb...but only things with no money or checks in them like birthday cards or stuff like that.

I didnt know Netflix still did DVDs by mail. I assumed it’s all online streaming.

Twice a month I receive a DVD movie from Netflix. When I am finished with the movie I take it, along with my other mail, and drop it in the blue box outside the PO.
