Yes, I live on a 1000 calorie diet. I make breakfast my main meal. This includes 2 eggwhites, 1/2 slice of wheat toast and a banana or orange.

Lunch Is a salad with a small boneless skin removed chicken thigh cooked however you like it. I also cook asparagus, or zucchini.

Dinner is Salmon, I like mine grilled with lots of lemon. I might add 1/4 cup lentils which I make into a salad with vinagrette dressing or more fresh veggies.

for a snack I like to have a piece of fruit or a protein bar.

I drink 64oz of water and coffee with non-dairy creamer.

once a week I allow myself a Vente Latte at Starbucks.

Keep your portions small, I eat on a small plate. Avoid dairy, Cheese and beef, lamb.

Good luck!

Yes, and it is very doable. Hard but doable.

You need to weigh everything. Veggies are your friend. What my family does is one protein and 2 veggies for every single meal.

Snacks are celery with hummus, nuts, plain yougurt with fake sweetner and a few berries.

It's an individual thing. I'm very physically active, and when I what to drop a few pounds, will go down to 1500-1600/day until I lose those pounds.

I can't think how I'd have enough energy to get through my day on 1200 calories. Food is fuel.

I follow this diet when I have gained 5 or more pounds and the weight drops off in about 8 days.

Cheese is very high in fat, and dairy turns to sugar. I do use greek yogurt but it must have 10 grams of protein. I will substite this if I dont eat egg whites. I prefer choboni. I walk at least a mile every other day too.

Hope this helps. Oh and I am 53 and have maintained my 200pound weight loss for 15 years. once I go over 135 I go back to this diet.

I am on a 1200 calorie a day diet. I am following the Richard Simmons Deal A Meal. You can eat 4 oz of protein a day, 2 dairy, 2 fruits , 4 starches a day, 3 fats and unlimited on certain vegetables. He has choices of limited fruits, sauces, condiments per day. You just need to measure and weigh portions. I am losing about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs per week. For me, it works out perfect. Also, drink 64 oz of water per day and do 1/2 hr of exercise.

When you start his program, you have a blast off week and then you go by your weight. As you lose weight, you eat less calories. The lowest is 1200 calories. This program has always worked for me. You can go to his website and get what you need. The program tools are very inexpensive. It teaches you how to eat fresh food.

Also as you eat, you close Windows on the card. I have the old set but the new one is more automated. It comes with a book that explains the whole program. Once all the windows are closed you are done eating for the day. I am not hungry on this plan.

You have to have enough protein, fat, fiber, and carbs to stay warm/cool, keep your brain functioning at full capacity, build muscle, lose fat instead of muscle, digest well, etc etc.

1,000 calories per day is too low for most people and can easily make a body think it's starving which means it'll lose muscle instead of fat or it'll change metabolism to stop losing. There are a few medical reasons 1,000 calories work though.

I went through a 1 year program with a professional trainer. Each group was just 5 people so they were very personalized. One thing I learned is that diet is a whole lot more than calories.

I was surprised at what I learned. Once I got the combination right, the weight started falling off. For example, I need these things every day in order to lose fat, lose weight, and build muscle:

1. 42g of good fats

2. 70g protein

3. 30-32g good carbs

4. 8-10g fiber

5. 60 or more ounces water

6. total of 1,300 to 1,410 calories

7. 20 minutes good cardio or weights/resistance training

I'm down 77 pounds to date. My blood pressure, sugars, good & bad cholesterol, and heart rate are normal. And I'm wearing Missy Petites again.

I doubt I would have the willpower, my hunger pangs would probably win. But I do try to keep to around 1,700 calories/day.

A lot of your success on something like this is going depend on several things.

What your calorie intake is/has been, what your metabolism is like, how active you are (how many calories you either do or don't burn on a daily basis) and what actual foods will comprise those 1200 calories, as they need to be nutrient dense calories, and you have few calories to waste on 'junk'.

If you choose the foods wisely, be sure to get plenty of protein and try for a two week period, you should get a real idea if it is doable for you.

I still follow an approximate 1200 diet by following the old version of Weight Watchers from the late 80’s. It helped me lose the baby weight from all three of my pregnancies and has helped me keep my weight down during menopause. I have added a few more exchanges to it so I am probably at about 1400 - 1500 calories now.

I have have the book The Women’s Day Weight Loss Plan by Kathy Isoldi. It is a very good plan too. It is an exchange based program like WW and Richard Simmons. The exchange programs seem to work best for me.

It’s all about Calorie Density

for sustainable loss, maintenance & optimum health.

Just look to...Weight Watchers, one of the oldest, most recognizable

commercial weight loss programs....basically calorie density.

Diets in the healthiest areas of the World? Calorie density.

And what does this all have in common?

Fiber.

And lots of it.

Prevention of heart disease? Increase whole food fiber

Prevention of diabetes? Increase whole food fiber

Prevention of obesity? Increase whole food fiber

Prevention of cognitive conditions? Increase whole food fiber

We should be striving for 30, 50...even up to 100 grams of fiber a day!

Fat doesn’t have fiber...must keep it low.

“Where do you get your protein?” I answer, ‘where do you get your fiber?’

No fiber in animal foods.

Low fat, whole foods, plant based for optimum health.

Every. Single. Time.

🌼💛
