New home for Geoffrey: With fanfare, jungle-themed music, cupcakes and smiles, Geoffrey the Giraffe was welcomed to his new home in the lobby of Bristol-Meyers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on July 11.

My gf son is a patient at Bristol Myers Squibb Children's Hospital. She sent pic today (I cropped pic to remove children) -- Geoffrey got a big welcome party today!

special prayers for your GD tomorrow. The staff, nurses & drs are amazing!

my friends son is a awesome kid eventhough he faces major medical challenges & he is always "happy" when he goes there ...sounds strange but he (and family) feels like a second home to him!

At 6 years old he can teach us many life lessons & how courageous children can be😊

I am sure Geoffrey will bring a smile to everyone who comes into the hospital. A nice place for him to be. My only issue is that he had to be purchased for $10k when he should have been donated to the hospital.

Did they file bankrupsy? Maybe they couldn't give him away.

They could have donated Geoffrey and written it off...to their advantage. I just thought it was tacky to require a nonprofit children's hospital to pay for something they easily could have given as a donation.

@lovesrecess You keep pushing incorrect information on what is a very nice story.

The hospital didn't buy the statue; the liquidation advisor, Joseph Malifitano, paid the $10,000 to ship Geoffrey to the hospital because he thought the hospital would make a terrific new home, instead of having the statue destroyed.

Thank you for the information...and don't ever accuse me of pushing incorrect information again....how nasty of you. At night time when this was covered on tv news was any liquidation person mentioned or any donation....only that Geoffrey had been purchased for $10k.
