? about the TSV umbrella

When you close it , it supposedly collects all the water on the inside so it doesn't drip. But what happens when you have to open it and it's full of water? For instance you arrive at your destination and close the umbrella, the water collects inside then you are finished at that place and need to go back outside in the rain. So what happens with all that water that's collected in there when you open it again.I'm imagining you'd get doused with a huge amount of water.If you turned it over to empty the water on the ground before you open it , wouldn't your feet/legs get doused with water ?

I didn't see the presentation, but i think the umbrella is to be tipped over when you step out of the rain.

If you're going in a door, turn around and tip it before closing the door. Or tip it when you get in your garage .... or something to that effect. That seems to make the most sense (to me).

@151949 I've had these umbrellas for quite some time. I do is:

Once I'm under shelter or indoors, turn the umbrella over to let the rain water fall down. That takes just 2 seconds to shake it outside the door, so you can carry it around with you by the handle.

Since an umbrella is a canopy, there's not a lot of water actually collected on it while in use, it runs down the sides. It's not a lot of water once you're inside. Even when you get in a car, the floor mat collects far more water off the bottom of your shoes/boots that the rain falling down from the inside of the umbrella.

When you need to open it again for use, 99.9% of the water is already gone.

I have one (not from the Q), you just tip it upside down and all the water runs out, there is not that much, no more than what runs off of a regular umbrella.

i have ordered these from both hsn and qvc and i agree that it is a great umbrella. love the design. i have probably ordered about ten of them......kept two and gave the rest for gifts.

I wouldn't recommend this umbrella for several reasons. (I bought one for my daughter when she moved to rainy Portland, OR.). She says it is hard to use one-handed, hard to close, is not compact, and rather shoddy in construction. I bought her the umbrella model that came with the built in light, which never worked. Unfortunately, it was too late to send back to QVC. She much prefers a cheaper, compact umbrella that fits in her satchel.

Mine would not. Then again I guess it would depend on the person opening and/or draining the umbrella.

I have 2 of these TSV type umbrellas. I love them and am frequently asked where can they be purchased.

One is a sunflower and makes me smile every time I use it.

I have an older version the Sunflower, just one. But usually I would rather carry a compact umbrella. Try taking this one being offered on a plane or when you travel. Too big.

I have seen a few people carrying these around the courthouse. I'm very glad I never took the plunge. First of all they are just way too big. I like a more compact umbrella. Second of all, the one woman I saw said she cannot operate it with just one hand.

I bought a Totes umbrella from Target. It wasn't the cheapest, bottom of the line umbrella. When it folds back up, it folds inwards along the lines of this TSV so the water stays inside. But I can pop it open with one hand, which I love and I can get in the car with the umbrella outside so I can fold it up. These are too cumbersome and large to do that for me.

I was going to order late last night until I checked online and saw that this TSV had a diameter of 41 1/2 inches when opened and the compact ones sold by HSN (which I own) have an open diameter of 46 inches.
