Grab for Attention?

Guess I do not understand the need for some people to post on topics they have no interest. It could be the Royal wedding, Hollywood celebrities, television show, what ever. Why do people feel the need to post "that they are not interested or have better things to do" rather than just pass over the topic and look for something that interests them.

I honestly don't see it as a grab for attention. They simply want to voice their opinion. It's all good.

My best guess is just because they can and there are no other threads that do interest them at the moment to comment on.

Oh a hundred hearts to you for this post.Why would you even waste your time reading subjects you aren't interested in, let alone post these negative comments all the time ? It's a mystery to me.

Not saying they could not voice their opinion, yet how can they discuss a TV show that "they would never watch". What does that add to a converstaion? Why bother?

They dont want to give their opinion on the topic, what they do is give a snarky comment to the writer of the posts.....others chime in with additional snarky remarks at the people, not the topic, and the whole thread that was once an enjoyable discussion gets shut down because of snarkfests ! That's not good.....

Jeez, why does anyone care where a poster decides to post? I mean, I can see a problem if the poster is nasty or snarky to others here, but otherwise, sorry, this is a message board. You can't and shouldn't imply disdain or control over others.

I have no interest in sports at all. I would never go into that forum, and just act as a spoiler ,to upset people who love sports

I think they just want to be the authority on what is interesting and show the rest of us ,how stupid we are, because we like something ,they don't

Levels of interest vary from person to person and everyone has opinions. Also, seems as if there are fewer new posts to read. I don't have a problem with any of that. What I find annoying is chronic, toxic, unhappy critics who hide behind computer screens. And there are a few who hang around these parts. But mostly -- there is more good about all of us than bad. It's so much better than it was five years ago -- IMO.

@CrazyDaisy, I've been thinking about myself, especially since I've spent some time in Community Chat lately. Especially the people who have to tell you how their life is so superior they couldn't be bothered to care about what that subject. I'm thinking they're mean-spirited or maybe sad or both, and want to infect those of us enjoying ourselves with their unhappiness.

@suzyQ3, "Get a life" is not an opinion and it's definitely not part of a discussion, pro or con. Those are the posts I'm thinking of, and they're not all good, there's nothing good about them.

If you're referring to someone responding to one of the royal wedding threads, I suspect it's because people are getting sick of hearing about it.

Not specifically, but one of many. Then if someone is "sick of hearing about it" why would they even bother to read the discussion? They feel the need to ruin things for others?

I understand what the OP means.

Perfect examples:

You don't like the Royals but feel the need to post your distaste of them.

Won't wear SG clothing but sees fit to go on a thread and bash the vendor.

Can't stand a show (such as The View) but has to post on the thread anyway.

When an informative thread such as diabetes is derailed because they know more than the doctors.

Doesn't like a certain show biz family with the initial K but happens to know all of the family secrets.
