Does anyone like Jack White’s music?

He’s currently solo, but many yrs ago, he played w/ his wife

called ‘The White Stripes’. He’s had collaborations with

Loretta Lynn back in the day, as well.

@sidsmomIt is a small world. Just this past week, I have watched some of his videos, saw him on SNL and watched an interview.

I believe he is well respected.

With all that said, with trying to educate myself, I don't get him or his music. At all.

Do you? Help me to understand his genius.

I'm jumping up and down raising my hand! I adore Jack White's music.

I don't think he gets anywhere near the credit he deserves. Although I have to say I wasn't very impressed with the music he played recently on Saturday Night Live.

But I'll forgive him. I liked him when he played with his (then wife) whom he called his 'sister'.

I watched a wonderful documentary about the two of them traveling and singing together. That's when I decided he rated right up there with some of my other favorites such as Eminem, Billy Idol and a few other favorites.

I was never a big fan of the Beatles (although I like a few of their songs). I used to have a 'thing' for drummers when I was in high school. An old boyfriend was in a band (everyone was in one back then). He taught me how to play the drums. Not very well, but I could play the drums.

Anyway, I also like Jack White. He's wonderful!

Do you have a fav song or 2 recommendation that I could listen too?

I love Prince too but I don't love all his music.

I’m the same...I like the White Stripes ‘Seven Nation Army’

but for the longest time, I just thought he was a weird dude.

Didn’t put much thought into his music.

But..’Jack White’ name began to eek into my life.

He collaborated with Loretta Lynn, Huh?

He has a record company..and they hand-press their own vinyl. Huh?

He’s a co-owner of a professional baseball bat production company

here in Dallas. Huh?

Then...to top it all off, he’s a big listener to The Ticket (my avatar),

a popular AM sports station here in Dallas. So much, his bat company

(Warstic) had a charity baseball game last night with the hosts of

The Ticket...just a little, small city park...and here was Jack White!

Surreal he’s so grounded.

Oh, I still think he’s a weird dude (!), but I got on his Wiki page

and began digging around, reading Rolling Stone articles &

watching videos. V.e.r.y eclectic, very respected, but like other

free-thinkers, I don’t have to like his work to appreciate him.

I just watched an interview he had with Conan back in 2014

wanting a No-Cellphone policy for concerts...and his April 24

concert? No cellphones. He made it happen. And expect the

industry to follow in his footsteps. Cool dude.

Jack White is also in the movie Cold Mountain with Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger (2003). It's a pretty heavy movie, but i thought he did a great job portraying his character.

Sadly,I only know one song by Jack White -Fell in Love with the Girl because it’s in the movie Silver Linings Playbook. Love the song and downloaded it from iTunes on my phone.

Ill have to check out more songs.

I like the song Seven Nation Army & the album Elephant it's in. I bought two other CD's after his wife & he split (the sister lie was odd) but didn't get into them as much.

Oh, I really loved his group the Raconteurs album Broken Boy Soldiers. Guess I prefer his work that wasn't solo. I enjoyed him in Cold Mountain, too.

I liked the White Stripes and have a CD. Their video for "My Doorbell" was so cute, with the "Our Gang" theme.

Loved the White Stripes, still trying to understand why J.W. would refer to ex-wife as his sister, although they really do or did look like brother & sister, IMO. Also, Seven Nation Army, killer song!

@sidsmom Let me do some fishing on the internet to see if I can find what I'm remembering....I remember bits and pieces of the two of them together.....it was very candid, as I remember. Talked about their arguing. I've read where it was very up and down.

Did you click on the interview I posted with Loretta Lynn and Jack? Did you hear him say he was thinking of going into the priesthood? Then when asked why not...he said (paraphrasing), "Well I'd just gotten an amazing amp". Ha!

I remember back in the late 60's and early 70's when my husband and I were first married (we didn't have children for 7 years), we partied and he dreamed of being in a band....anyway, he had some amazing amps, wa wah's and so on.....(that's what I called it)...you stepped on it and it made that sound! He had all kinds of guitars (electric and acoustic guitars....even drum pads (for me).

I found it on Amazon. Not much money at all.

If you go on youtube you can watch it for $3.99. It's really neat because it shows them just having fun with other people while out touring.

If people see this they'd understand why his fans like him so much.

@sidsmom Speaking of other people I saw Sting promoting his and "Shaggy's" new album (interesting combination of Jamaican-American dancehall-reggae (from a recent article)?

They were both on "Watch What Happens" (Andy Cohen). Sting was asked what were the chances of him ever singing with "The Police" again...he held up the number 0 with his fingers.

Surprisingly, they are both family men who have rather large families. There was a recent article in People magazine about the two of them. I very much enjoyed their performance as I also enjoyed reading the article about the two of them.

Their new album is titled, "44/876 ".
