Do you have a lot of friends?

I don't. I've never had a lot of people I would call true friends at any given time, and I prefer it that way. I don't use the term lightly and call everyone I know a friend.

I have one best friend, and a few other people that I consider true friends.

I know a lot of people, I enjoy going out in public and socializing, but I really, all my life, have had few what I would truly call 'friends'. I have some cousins that I see and spend time with. I enjoy time spent with them and look forward to it, but I consider them relatives, not really friends.

We know some couples that we do things with occasionally, and raised our kids together, but I hesitate to call them real friends, as we aren't close.

So what about you, do you have a lot of what you consider friends?

I may be a rare bird at age 83 with a friend I've had since elementary school. We write real letters to each other and I'm usually able to visit her once a year. I have a few close acquaintances (as I'll call them) at church.

I have three best friends and several others that I count right up there. I feel that I am very fortunate.

I am very social, enjoy people and enjoy getting together with them.

I also miss some other true friends that due to distance and circumstance, don't see any more.

I have made some attempts to reconnect and this forum reminds me to double my efforts. Thank-you.

One very good friend. One "King of Prussia" friend (we have fun going to the King of Prussia mall about two or three times a year). And a few other friends.

No. I used to have many acquaintances but just a few whom I would call true friends.

For a variety of reasons, my socializing has diminshed tremendously. Some of my friends were circumstantial, meaning that they came with parts of my life -- e.g., fellow students in college, fellow moms when my daughter was young, fellow workers, and fellow neighbors at our old house. (If I write "fellow" one more time, shoot me.)

Sometimes I wish it were different and that I had a small circle of meaningful friends, but I don't see it in the cards.

I am very choosy about picking friends. I have a BFF that I have known since we were 4 or 5 years old and two other close friends that I have known for over 20 years. Having a bunch of people so you can call them friends is not for me.

I have 3 friends of over 40+ years we've shared the most memorable moments together and one of them is a childhood friend.

As for this stage of life -- not really! For some reason, moving into a over 55 community that was established many already had "their" friends yet I do have alot of good "acquaintances" here! As for "couples" those have passed or moved home to be with family as they were much older.

I don't have that friend near that I can call and say "hey, feel like shopping, going to a movie, etc."

This is the part I miss living so far from my "true friends".

King of Prussia mall is my fav!!! First stop, Nordstroms for lunch and then let the shopping begin when I'm home...my family lives about 20 minutes from there!

Love the whole shopping experience at King of Prussia Mall.

I have a couple good friends, one is from my grade school days!!

and I can rely on them for anything I would need in a crisis.

Two other good friends have retired and moved out of the area....I really miss them and the girl things we used to do.

I have three very best friends friends that have been there since before we went to school. We went to school together from first to 12th grade too.

i have two “new” friends that I have made as an adult.

I also have some part time friends that I hang out with occasionally, but they are not my best friends.

I also have one best male friend. He was in my wedding as an usher. My DH is now friends with him too. He and his girl friends as well as his wife used to double date with us before we all got married, so he has been around for a long time.

I have a few close friends & many acquaintances. I used to have what I called my "friend groups", work friends ( 2-3 different groups of job friends), bar friends, school friends, town acquaintances/friends. I no longer go to bars, & have lost touch with most of them. I am still in close contact with many school friends & consider some of them my BFF, I'm 65 & known most of them since 1st grade. The "town friends", are mostly 2 faced, so I don't consider them real friends.

I seem to be the center hub of school friends & work friends. They come to me to organize lunches & gatherings. I keep up what's going with many of them & others come to me for info regarding certain things connected to all.

As far as new friends, I am very cautious who I associate with & trust few.

My bff of 42 years lives in NY. We talk/text every day, but I wish I had a good friend that I could call to have lunch, or go shopping. I socialize with the people at church, & consider some of them true friends, but it's not with the same familiarity as what I have with my bff. Being a widow, I sometimes feel that I don't fit in, in certain social settings. I feel lonely & isolated at times, but it is what it is.
