Let's lighten things up with memorable silly childhood jokes, riddles, and ditties. Anyone remember any? I'll start with a few. More will probably pop into my head during the day.

"What stays in a corner but travels around the world?" (A stamp)

"Why did the duck cross the road?" (To prove he was no chicken.)

"What did you have for lunch?" (Scab sandwiches and pus pudding.)

@Yardlie- oops, forgot to include the word mother. When my sister's kids asked her what was for lunch she'd say "hot snot & puke sandwiches". Eww!

Whoever was the first one to see the streetlights go on would jump up and say “first one to see the lights go on”. I have no idea why...

The itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the water spout. Down came the rain
and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain. And the itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. (Sung with the corresponding hand gestures.)

I’m a little teapot short and stout. Here is my handle and here is my spout. When I get all steamed up, then I shout, tip me over and pour me out. (done with body movements).

@SandPiper ... My sister used to perform the little teapot song all the time when she was little. I remember the other ones also. We used to see "the rootbeer stand first" when my dad was driving down one of the main streets in town. Guess we wanted him to stop.
