Alexa Thinks She's My Buddy

My dog just jumped on my lap. As I often do, I said, "there's a little black dog on my lap. I wonder where it came from?" Alexa which is turned on but was not engaged, volunteered "I'm not sure". I never mentioned her name. Creepy.

@Kachina624 Ours usually turns on during Jeopardy. Were you watcing Jeopardy? We also found that it turns on at random times. Make no mistake, Alexa (Echo) is always listening. I don't mind now, but I wonder if it will ever regret it.

I just watched the old South Park ep where the boys had one and were making up all kinds of horrible things for the shopping list so she would repeat them. Boys. LOL!

@Kachina624 I don't think my Alexa likes us as much as your Alexa likes you. LOL! My DH just mentioned tonight that Alexa is going to become even more interactive. BTW, her daily weather forecast is almost never right. Hahaha!

It disturbs me to think this device is always listening to conversations in the room. I guess you have to be careful what you say around her.

At times I ask her a question and she mostly gives me the answer. I say Alexa thank you and she’ll answer with “no problem” or something similar.

Siri seems to be something of a prude.

My friend asked her to look up some info regarding " ladies of the evening". Siri said, "there's no need for that".

f have a little fear of artificial intelligence ala "The Terminator" movies. Kinda didn't like it whe hubby bought an Echo.

another thing that costs money. We steer clear of unnecessary monthly bills have enough of those and always on the increase.
