I'm sorry to hear that Steven Bochco has died of a rare form of leukemia.

He was behind many ground-breaking enterprises, but the gritty "Hill Street Blues" stands out to me. Also a little-known effort, the innovative "Murder One", with extraordinary actors Daniel Benzali, Patricia Clarkson, Anthony La Paglia. It brought film noir to television.

My husband and I never missed an episode of Hill Street Blues. I was sad to learn of his death this morning. “She’s fecund, Francis.” That was my favorite line...hysterical.

I had to watch every episode as well. Such an interesting ensemble of actors, and the sultry Daniel J. Travanti/ Veronica Hamel romance...

Producing any TV show(s) where I actually wouldn't move - - was something I almost ..(almost).. forgot!!!! There were three, at least.

I thought what @Isobel Archer shared; her default phone ring, was so creative.

Actually your age, at that time, wasn't something I ever thought about, but did know the actors / every storyline was/ were of articulate scope and carriage, even if I thought [ they ] were, or appeared to be older.......

What superb creativity that came out of this man!

LA LAW, it will remain one of my all time fave shows, way ahead of its time, fabulous ensemble cast. Rest in peace, Mr Bochco.

I watch reruns every afternoon at 3:00. Presently we're almost finished with season 2.

This was one of the best casts ever.

Coincidentally Daniel J Travanti was the killer this morning on Perry Mason. (he was Dan Travanty then)

Steven Bochco was brilliant and gave us some of TV's best show.

Oh, that's super that you are getting reruns, @lulu1. I love vintage TV of all eras, and I think I've spotted "Dan" in other series' too-- maybe even "The Fugitive", but definitely in other series...

Bochco seemed to have an eye for bringing interesting actors together, with spectacular results....

I remember seeing him in an old Criminal Minds. Last year he was Callen's father on NCIS LA. He has aged well.

I went to college with a cousin of his. He was a few years older and was her Cousin Crush.

RIP and Godspeed Mr. Bochco - NYPD Blue was always "must watch" TV for me. Dennis Franz was brilliant and then there was my heartthrob Jimmy Smits . . . 'nuf said.

Love Dennis Franz, on both NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues. Great acting.

He was a genius. LA LAW, NYPD Blue. Two of my all time favorites.

I didin't watch Hill Street. I got behind and missed a lot of episodes the first year so just skipped it. Later, when it was being shown again I tuned in 3 times to watch it and got the same episode all 3 times. I gave up. I may go back and binge watch it all this summer.

David E. Kelly was one of his proteges and he does brilliant work too. The Practice, Boston Legal, Ally Mc Beal, Harry's Law!!!! and Big Little Lies. He is amazing.

Goodbye Mr. Bochco. You will be missed.

There is a station on Verizon Fios, H&I, that runs NYPD Blue every day. I dvr it every day.
