Cute idea I heard this AM

The girl ay my doctor's office asked what we were doing for Easter and I said I'm having family for dinner. She said what tricks are you playing on your guests?I was like - Huh? And she said - it's also April fools day. My Mom is going to dye hollow eggs and put them out so when people go to get one to eat - there is only shell. But we are looking for further ideas. So now she has me thinking....

I had (temporarily) forgotten about that! Now you've got me thinking (this could have something to do with hidden Easter baskets, I think).

We used to dye eggs we had blown the egg out of. Rinsed inside well before dyeing then my mom would make jello and drip it in with an eye dropper (tape on one end of the egg). and into the refrigerator they would go. This was long before they made egg shaped jello molds. Anyhow, something like this would be a good April Fool's joke. Put them on the table with your other food and the first person cracking their hard boiled egg will get a big surprise! We all used to love cracking open our jello eggs.

That's true, I don't think of April Fool's Day as a holiday so it wouldn't have occurred to me. No, pulling pranks on Easter Sunday is not something that I would do.

Yes! When my kids were young, I dyed eggs for them periodically. It was fun, they loved it. I have even done it when I gave brunch. I dyed the eggs to go with my color theme.

It's not much of an April Fools Day joke.

I think it's a cute idea. And making people think something is other than what it really is seems like a pretty standard prank for the day. I'd do it if I were into either dying eggs or playing AFD jokes.

what i meant is that on easter, when my grandkids were young, i would dye raw eggs and pass them off as hard boiled!! messy-but hilarious....

This one is kind of evil but fun. I put scotch tape over the end of the faucet where the water comes out, ask someone to turn it on for you and it will spray everywhere. Make sure you pick someone with good sense of humor. You can also cut of the letter E out of brown paper, place in baking dish and cover with towel. Tell everyone you made brown E’s. and they should help themselves oh so funny! I did the brown E in elementary school my students waited till snack time and when I let them get the brown E’s the faces were priceless! I did have brownies hidden in closet. Happy Easter and watch your back. April Fools!

One of my sons did this to me when he was about 8 or 9 years old. It soaked me and sprayed all over! I wasn't amused. But when I asked him where in the heck he got the idea, he told me it was in his Ranger Rick magazine and showed it to me. Sure enough, some writer thought it was a good idea to put kids up to this. I wasn't a fan of Ranger Rick after that lol.
