Has Anyone Seen Spring?

Ugh! First day of Spring and my older brother's birthday (78)!

Here in Northern Va it's sleeting and sticking on tables, etc.

I'm sooooo ready for warmer weather! I hate dark days. Love sunny days.

I was supposed to go out to lunch and spend day with my teenage granddaughter. But that's not happening.

Please someone find Spring and tell them to get to Northern Va...we need her or him immediately.

It is bright and sunny here in Southern NY, however it is so cold that it sure doesn't feel like spring. I think I say this every year, sigh. 😕

No spring here in north eastern Pa. We're to start getting snow late tonight and up to 8" by the end tomorrow evening, depending what weather channel you check out. As usual, none of them agree. A "Happy Birthday" to your brother.

Spring forgot us here in New York too----we live 100 miles north of Manhattan-----snow storm predicted to arrive later tonight and all day tomorrow. They are saying we will get 6-12 inches--and possibly more!! So tired of these big storms!!! Can't wait to see the first tulip of the season!!!!!!!

@Annabellethecat66 I so agree with you! We need spring and warm weather here in New Jersey too! I live near the beach and love sunny days and hot weather. Hang in there my friend because Spring is on its way, it just had to take a little detour.

Yep spring has sprung here...we've been experiencing spring like weather for awhile here in South Texas.....The sun is shining, the birds are singing....I spotted a hummingbird this morning...The high is supposed to 76

Now where my brother lives in the northeast---the snow is knee deep ---no spring where he is anytime soon.........

@OKPrincess Well....I don't think it's arriving tomorrow as I heard on the weather channel it's been stalled in Denver (was 70 there the other day).

Here in Northern Va we're expecting snow .....yepper...yet another "Noreaster" so they say. Depending on which channel 1 to 3 inches is the most popular guess.

Well as most of you hard working people know in other states here in the Va/DC/Md area if the winds blow or we get one snow flake the entire government shuts down. Yes! That's your tax money people.

Myself and all of my friends used to work for the government (DC/Pentagon/Maryland) and way back we never got off due to weather. These days they get off if the wind is blowing hard.

Not blaming the workers. Don't know who's to blame just saying to many of you in other parts, try telling your bosses you won't be in because I might be expecting 1 to 3 inches ....just maybe...in my back yard...

We all know to stay away from the stores and roads because they're so crowded with school kids and adults shopping we can't get anywhere. Think I'm exaggerating....not at all.

I'm in VA too. Spring is in hiding. We're expecting snow either tonight or tomorrow. Mother Nature is definitely doing her own thing, Should an APB be put out for her???

The day is absolutely gorgeous even if we woke up this morning in East Texas at 45 deg. High only to 65 but warmer and sunny each day for the rest of the week. Rain all next week.

OK, I know I'm busting on govenment workers in the DC/Md/and Va area but I can because everyone I know (and I mean everyone, family, myself, etc) works or did work for the government.....but..

I was thinking about how in New York and New Jersey all of the snow you guys recently got and are still getting, can you imagine New York shutting down?

Actually, even being so close to you guys, we heard very little about the problems you had getting rid of all that snow. You dealt with it, didn't boo hoo and got on with your life.

If respect that....how about sending some of that "let's get er done".....to us here!

@Annabellethecat66, the first day of Spring in Nova Scotia is cool but bright and sunny. We still have some snow from the last storm but it was a beautiful day so we took our Lab for a walk on the golf course. She loved being off leash and is having a big sleep now.

Your storm today will be ours tomorrow. Hoping it is the last one for the winter. I’m ready to turn the page! LM

@Annabellethecat66 Being a person who has worked in the DC area for more than forty years, I have to disagree. I have spent hours standing on a stalled subway trying too get home when it snows here. The subway doesn't seem to run well here in bad weather either. I have then had to spend hours in my car in stalled traffic after that because, as you know, traffic comes to a complete halt here in bad weather - oftentimes not getting home until 11:00 at night. I think the Office of Personnel Management takes all of this into account when it closes the government. A few Fridays ago - power was out EVERYWHERE, my area when we woke up through the early part of the following week. Watched as stuff flew by my windows - good thing the government was closed - how do you work with no power? My husband right now is sitting in the mall across the street from my office because he worried about sitting in hours of traffic in order to get TO my office to drive me home this evening - this way he only has to sit in traffic one day. You are retired - great! All of us are not.

I agree with you, having had to sit on the subway and in traffic for hours when DC has a snowstorm. I got home after midnight too many times, getting to the point where I just stayed home when a snowstorm was forecast.

It is not true that the govt shuts down when there is a flake, especially now that so many people have flexiplace agreements in place. If you have the ability to work from home on an episodic basis, you are required to work even if the govt does shutdown. So I would be very cautious making such cruel remarks about govt workers during a snowstorm. The OPs comments are not funny, they are incorrect and mean spirited.

The problem is that DC metro area does NOT take snow seriously. They don't plow, making driving horrendous. After living there for 35 years, I still don't understand their mentality about plowing. Meaning they don't and if they do, the way they plow is laughable. But thanks for sticking up for govt workers, from one who knows the truth.
