Update On The Turpin Children

Seven siblings who were rescued from a squalid Southern California home earlier this year received a special treat last week: a private performance by Yo-Yo Ma.

The world-renowned cellist reportedly performed for seven of the 13 siblings at a hospital in Corona, California, on Friday.

“They were just amazed, awestruck by the level of talent,” Mark Uffer, CEO of Corona Regional Medical Center, where the seven adult siblings are staying, told CNN. “They really enjoyed it.”

Uffer said the siblings are undergoing music therapy, a program that has taught them how to play the guitar and sing, as part of their recovery.

“All of their health issues have improved since they came here,” he said. “They are in a better place now.”

@Noel7 the girl that ran for help ,has some videos she posted online, where she sings songs, that she wrote herself. She did this just prior to running away to get help

I have always wondered where the girl got help that escaped the house. Did she go to a neighbor's? I've never heard anyone say.

there was something on the net news about the parents of these kids and the court case. I didn't read the article.

All that’s been said is that the 17 year old female got out of the house and used a (disconnected) cell phone to call 911. From what I read, she did not have contact with any neighbors.

Thanks for explaining that @RedTop. I had wondered what happened. I didn't know you could call 911 on a disconnected cell phone.

Yes, even a disconnected cell phone can be used to call 911. I have seen many reminders for parents to remove the batteries if they are going to give their old phones to children to play with.

She is a very smart girl. She took photos of the living conditions on the phone, so she had proof

@NickNack, many shelters for abused women accept donated cell phones so the women can have access to 911 at all times.
