Velociraptors on the rooftops!

OK, they're young wild turkeys, but they are clearly descended from dinosaurs.

Who else has photos to share of wildlife visiting their neighborhood?

I don't have a photo, but...

SF has a fairly large group of beautiful parrots that live here. Usually they are seen on Nob Hill, but one day they swarmed at ouf house on a bush they are known to like.

It was amazing, we were able to get up close to them, talk to them and interact somewhat. They were here about 15 minutes, then they took off, all together.

I have two dozen at this point that come here morning and late afternoon and on rainy days they're out munching sporadically.. They've been lined up all around Eddy's fence; on roofs, in trees. When the ground is snow/ice covered, and I've forgotten to leave out, by 4:30, the wildlife feed or cheerios, one will stand at the gate to let me know to put some food out!

It's really cute to see them with their newborns. There's always two adults with the crew, watching and teaching them. Think some human parents could learn from these creatures!

Sorry I don't have any pictures, but once in a while we have a flock of them roaming around the neighborhood. They are really SCARY looking!

They usually stay near one man who lives on Telegraph Hill, he makes sure they have food and water. I assume this is his place:

I've read about those SF parrots, @Noel7 Wow. You got to interact with them. I hope they continue to do well.

Those parrots are really beautiful, @Noel7!

@GingerPeach I grew up surrounded by the wild turkeys and they can be quite funny creatures- and startlingly in their size.

Only rarely see them here in town but they still flock all over my brother's farm. They are one type of “intruder” that our guard cat, Smoky actually seems intimidated by- although fascinated, too. Crouches low in the grass or hay fields and watches them from a safe distance.

One of my favorite books is: The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill by Mark Bittner. He developed a very close relationship with these wild birds.

This is a Ferruginous Hawk in a tree near my house....

And this little guy has invaded our neighborhood eating food people leave for feral cats....

And I dont have a photo of the young buck that marched down the sidewalk in January, i went to get my phone to take a photo but he was already gone....I think he was looking for sprinklers to be on so he could get drink of water....

I live near a large treed lot and a green belt where all these critters come from............

We have sharp-shinned hawks here, but I've never managed to get a picture of one.

@GingerPeach great silhouettes! I live in the woods so I could post a lot of wildlife pictures We have wild turkeys too, sometimes they even roost in our trees.

I thought it was an owl in the tree....but I posted the photo on my Facebook Page and a cousin identified as a Ferruginous Hawk...boy the neighborhood cats ran into some bushes when the hawk flew off......

We get several kinds of hawks that migrate through............

That's neat a sharp-shinned hawk in your neck of the woods....

One Saturday morning I heard this loud banging so I looked outside and it was a Woodpecker banging on my brown drain pipe...I guess he thought it was a tree...LOL!!!

I have a photo that I would have to dig out.

We had a little red headed wood pecker that would like to land on our metal flue pipe and go to town.

The first time I heard it I thought the hot water heater or furnace were getting ready to blow up.

The only was I could make it stop and go away was to raise the thermostat so the heat came on.

I happened to have my phone in my pocket and went on a walk to check the mail and spotted him......It is so neat to see the different kinds of birds/wildlife (except the skunk smell)....I used to have a bird feeder, and loved to watch the Cardinals and finches, and other birds, but those darn Mourning Doves made such a mess all over my patio and they ate all the seed so I took down the feeder.....
