Humorous look at old age

Definition of "OLD"

I've sure gotten old!

I have outlived my feet and my teeth,

I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,

New knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes, I'm half blind,

Can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,

Take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.

Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation;

Hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.

Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92.

Have lost all my friends.

But, thank God,

I still have my driver's license.

I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape,

So I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising.

I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.

I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But,

By the time I got my leotards on,

The class was over

It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says,'For fast relief.'

That was fun and oh so true, yet how many 85 to 90 year olds who are still alive and moving say,"they are as sharp as a tack and feel years younger"! I do know of someone though who is 84 and still works as a politician and seems to be really well and with it mentally.

People aren't "old" just because they have been here a long time. They get old when they stop enjoying life.

We just had a Birthday party and dance for friends that were 85, 90 and 95! Lively group, still going strong!

I'm reading this as I get ready to go do my Zumba Gold class, then take my dog for a 2 mile work, then get on my treadmill for 2 miles, and my bike for 5. I do a total of Zumba 3 times a week, bike 100 miles a month and treadmill 40 miles a month. Walk dog everyday and she is close to my age of 82 give or take a few dog years.

I also do free weight training 2 times a week and machine weight training 3 times a week.

I started 59 years ago. Use to run 8 miles a day, but those days are gone. I am not kidding, keep moving when you are young and you can do the same.

I clean my own 4 bedroom house, and do my own yard work. So while funny discription, not true for everyone.

Years ago I went to an event - and there was a table with female and male police officers - wanting people to sign up. I told the female police woman that I'm interested in joining --- but I'm too old, too short, overweight, can't run, can't see and I'm afraid of everything. She said, "ur perfect."

I absolutely love that!! That's so funny. Bad thing is, it's so true in so many cases.

I once thought, "I've fallen, and I can't get up" was a funny commercial. Until the day came, that the mind wanted to get up from being down on the floor, and I had to figure out a new way to get up. The body just sort of says, hey, I'm wearing out and I'm getting tired. Never knew.
