@Sue98 I doubt anyone will ever find her because I feel she was taken out to sea and dumped. A very sad situation.

I can’t imagine the unbearable pain Natalie’s mom has endured these many years. Yes everyone knows she was murdered. She just wants to bring her home. That’s all.

Van Der Sloot was such a liar. Even though he said he dumped her, I've wondered if it's believable. Dumped in shark infested waters makes sense for not being able to find her. If he did do that, he knew what he was doing. I always wondered if she was sold into secks slavery so he'd have more gambling and drug money.

If she was "dumped" in the water, she would never be found. You don't even have to think about sharks or other predators.

Anything or anyone that goes into the sea is gone quickly. Currents will drag an object many miles from where it first went in. And then, of course, the decomposition will occur.

It's very sad, but I'm sure her mother knows deep down that her remains will not be found.

I think that possibly many years down the road, someone is going to talk and the truth will come out.

I don't think her remains will be found though.

I've always thought the take away from the whole thing, was that people (young women in particular) need to learn from what happened.

Stay with others you know when/if you are impaired and when in places you are not familiar with. Don't let friends go off alone or with strangers. And sometimes people are either too young or too immature to be in certain adult situations (without parental supervision in a foreign place or in certain social settings), and will make choices that lead to danger.

I've often wondered how there was even such a school trip to a place like Aruba in the first place. AND--where were the chaperons? Didn't they require a curfew and enforced bed checks? Wonder if those schools still sponsor such trips. Sad story. Bad decisions all around.

Natalie crossed paths with an opportunist and murderer who had people cover for him. Like other posts, I don't understand this trip for young women barely out of high school. Hope parents / women learned from this. Sad story

It wasn’t a school sponsored trip. It was un unofficial graduation trip a group of 124 friends took to Aruba. Only seven chaperones went. They checked on the kids every morning, but they didn’t have curfews or bed checks. Most of the kids were 18 and young adults and many drank to excess all day long. They pretty much were left to themselves.

There was a show on last year, featuring Natalee's dad, that had the killer's best friend tell all he knew. He said she over dosed on the date rape drug, he buried her, then the dad helped move the body. It was dug up a second time as searchers were getting close to the area the dad moved her to, this time the killer and best friend dug her up. They paid a vet that had cremation equipment to burn the dug up remains. This could be more lies, but there was evidence the dad was seen late at night/early morning hours & other things matched up as time and place areas were searched.

I think it could be true, and that she probably did die from the drug he put in her drink. If she was sold into slavery, there would have been more sightings and the family was wealthy already so he didn't need the money.

I, too, have always believed that his father was involved. If I can recall, he was well connected in law enforcement as a lawyer or judge. in addition, the Dutch government did not wholeheartedly assist in this prosecution. So, the story then became, he was free to move about the country. Or shall I say countries since he ended in Peru where he killed another woman. However, Peru does not play with psychopaths and prosecuted him where he remain in prison. Sad that it took another death to get justice.

Natalie wasn't a drinker. Joran or the bartender spiked her drink!!!!! Joran had the Calpo Brothers take them to the beach and the brothers drove off. Joran obviously attacked Natalie (probably strangled her) and then called his father from the pay-phone. I heard in one report that the father called a friend who took Natalie on a boat - and dumped her. So tragic!!!!
